I see that now. I kinda overreacted (which I have a habit of doing when it comes to breaking news).

But if true, it's a loss.

Maybe delayed but maybe they will confirmed it soon... Although i hope Business Mirror website just being faked... Just pray for Edu!!!!

It would not be a surprise if true. And what I’ve been saying all along.

Anyway, Edu is not needed here for now... What we need is he should be healthy in crucial tournaments such as FIBA Asia cup next year and hopefully FIBA World cup in 2027... Even Edu will play next month, we don't have guarantee that we can advance even in group stages... So better preserve him in more crucial tournaments...

Kristap Porzingis might not play for Latvia next month, Since doctors tell that he needs 6-8 weeks of healing process before to play again... That means he will be automatically out and I'm sure Boston will not allow him to join this summer... Luka Doncic might not play too since he needs some rest after grueling run for the Mavs this season... Lauri Markannen will not play for Finland this OQT.. Also questionable are Al Horford and KAT of DR... meanwhile Giannis will play for Greece...

The team will first practice together on June 22, 12 days before the OQT. That's enough for that tournament. Hope 3 days of rest are enough for June Mar, CJ, and Newsome.

Finals is over. 6 days of rest for CJ, Newsome, and June Mar.

And only Newsome is expected to play heavy minutes.

CJ is 50-50 because he has off days.

Junemar… is only in the lineup because we have no other bigs.

Are SBP still praying that Edu is OK to play? Why still not release his status if he can play or not? News Blackout...

He's porbably ok to play, but at FIBA level at this time maybe not. They're probably trying to coax him with more incentives, but his management is also looking at a bigger picture,he might be just 80% by the start of OQT,so the decision to sit this one out is justifiable.

Perhaps AJ is OK to play in the coming OQT, it's just that his handlers are worried that putting him back into action, soon especially in this level of competition where he has to play against world level teams, AJ would risk another injury. They would want to rest AJ & make him fully recover from that injury before he is allowed to suit up for Gilas.

It's just too unfortunate that AJ has glass knees.

Newsome has a crucial role as our best perimeter defender, e. CJ, great hustle and driver, and good in the passing lanes, but erratic shooter and not very good in man-to-man and rotations.

June Mar will play a bigger role if AJ's not healthy.

Junemar to me is slightly better defensively. But with heavy minutes and his super sized offensive role he really needs to conserve energy defensively.

Junemar actually looks lighter than in his prime. When he dunks it doesnt to be with the same effort as before. Even post broken leg he seems to be better overall than his prime. Its just his team is actually weaker in topline talent.

Until now no news that Edu is in the country already to be with Gilas... usually He is now here if he is available... But i think until now he's in London w/ his family... That means you know the answer... The practice sessions will get start by Saturday...

Ayun. So lineup so far is this:

Guards: Scottie, Newsome, CJ
Wings: JB, Dwight, Oftana
Tweeners: Tamayo, Quiambao, Mason
Bigs: Kai, June Mar, Japeth

We will miss AJ. JB's our only reliable defender from the 4/5 spots (I listed him as a wing, but he can play 4), unless Kai shows defensive improvement (which I hope to see in the games leading up to, and including, the FIBA Asia Cup in August next year).

Onus on Scottie, Newsome, and Dwight to anchor our defense, then. Hopefully, CJ and Oftana improve on that end too, as do Carl and Quiambao.

we are gonna get screwed inside the paint. tsk tsk expect headless chicken Japeth to show up.

Our interior defense is screwed w/o Edu

Our interior defense hinges on Kai's improvement and JB doing his best on that end. So for the most part, like I said, we need Scottie, Newsome, Dwight, and maybe JB to stop penetration. We will have to rely on perimeter defense.
