let’s see if they stick with no older players. but then again they recruited back japs

...exactly why mofo's like robert the Saudi construction worker and his kind still cannot comprehend why the whole idea of a "core" was a bad one to begin with as opposed to a pool then make cuts. If they're just playing this game of favorites, they might as well call-up Mike Philips since he's an SMC boy (and will definifely end up in one of their teams after a lopsided trade next year) exactly like Malonzo years ago. He's probably as young as those players Gilas will face in the OQT.

They would if they could. But he takes up the NP slot. If you're going with M Phillips there, then you will have no excuse for not picking Kouame.

Because we all know CTC is not known for ideal Long list of pools... You know CTC is not a patience type of coach... You have to respect CTC's decision... As for the core, Everybody knows that the core of Kai, Edu, Tamayo, KQ and Ramos are the "Legit" ones who will be the long term of Gilas even post CTC era, atleast he add Amos on his list too... Those veterans such as JMF, Scottie are there to introduce the system of current coach... Every team needs veteran presence.. And that is the reason why they are there... They already proved that last Asian Games... Even me wants to pool atleast 16 players... Everyone who follow Gilas wants atleast bigger pool in case of injury... Maybe you not understand why CTC just want shorter pool...

Lots of wings can be pick on.. and he choose japs.. tim is stubborn as you can get..

But no need for bigger pool right?

Japeth was tapped due to familiarity with the coach and also because of Edu's uncertain status...Although there are many players who can pick... But can we blame CTC here? Until now Balti is grounded with SBP... Atleast he tapped Amos for long term...

Our wing rotation is a bit thin. I just said it. Dwight, JB, Oftana, maybe Quiambao. Dwight and JB are the only reliable defenders at that spot, until I can see Oftana be competent in defense again (he was a competent defender in the August 2022 window; he's getting blown by in the PBA).

As for AJ, he may be injured and recovering, but this replacement is specifically for Malonzo.

Sir SK's right, Cone can be stubborn to a fault, like Chot. I'm speaking as a Ginebra fan who watched Ginebra games almost every time they're on.

CTC is balancing between fans clamor and his big boss situation... This is not his control... Maybe he want a longer pool but only little of players are only acceptable both for him and for his bosses.. As i said i also want more players... But can we blame him? Actually i was surprised that Tamayo was picked because remember he choose to begged off for the FIBA World cup roster.. SBP might disappointed on his decision and maybe SBP will not tap him for that in the next Gilas iteration.. Even Ravena bros were not picked even we all know the Ravena family and MVP are in good terms... Even Parks, since he has good relation w/ Boss Al of SMC...We all know why CTC can't pick more players and we have nothing to do about their decision... If you look how many foreign based players were picked, It was Edu, Kai and Ramos are only selected because they are very necessity to the Gilas program.. Others such as Abando, Heading, Parks, etc... were not selected... Tamayo was selected just after he was released by his team in Japan... I'm sure from now, PBA and SBP might pursuing Tamayo to join PBA in exchange for Gilas spot... As Tamayo still undecided whatever he plans on his next chapter... You know the answer why only few pool members for this and we are nothing to do about that...

Tim definitely is stubborn but probably is being given a past because he's more popular than Chot and hasn't embarassed us yet.

Well Japeth was getting KD comparisons back in college. Hasn't everyone seen that one picture where he has the same stance and posture?

KD was Japeth's idol back then, but no, i dont think anyone dared to compare Japeth to KD. There were Yi Jian Lian comps tho.

Looking forward to scrimmage vs Polish national team. Sochan and brogdon.

Well, if this were 2009... Toroman actually played Japeth on the wing (with CJ Giles as the lone big) until Yeng, Chot, and even CTC fckd him up to be a running big. I rarely saw him take outside shots for Gilas since then. He wasn't needed on the wing with Gabe Norwood there. Even then, Toroman was hard on Japeth for biting on pump fakes a lot. Now he's much older, I already feel sorry for him 'coz he will get injured chasing quicker and more physical players.

It was a joke as some posters back were hopeful he'd be our KD after seeing one picture where he displayed the exact same stance as KD in one of his younger pics. It was a different time lol. We thought the Phenom would be our best future player, Greg and JF our future twin towers etc

... which makes Kobe Paras our version of Rodney Stuckey? Lol. The Stuckey hype was real. It baffled me how that Pistons team had a rotation of Stuckey, Hamilton, T-Mac, Ben Gordon, and Will Bynum. I really thought Paras would do well enough in Japan to be useful for Gilas after Tab just had him play stretch four for lack of personnel. Either he became a victim of those stupid PBA eligibility rules or just doesn't wanna play anymore.
