The way we perform this past tune ups and OQT, more teams will invite us for friendlies and pocket tournament ,bad news is we only have 7-10 days to prepare...

I hope next year for asia cup we will have more time, so we can join this pocket tournaments specially againts euro teams.

So who do you guys have making the Olympics?

Brazil over Latvia
Greece over Croatia
Spain over Bahamas
Lithuania over Puerto Rico

For me

Latvia over Brazil for me.

Latvia is different with ace point guard Arturs Zagars in tow. We're lucky that this kid didn't play against Gilas. He could have been the difference maker in that game.

Availability of our PBA Gilas players will always be the problem.
Availability of our B-league, KBL Gilas players won't be a problem since those pocket tournaments & friendlies that Gilas could play next year, they are held during the off season of B-league & KBL.

I wouldn’t count out the Bahamas and Puerto Rico either.

So guys U think CJ Perez redeemed himself in the last 2 games (versus Georgia & Brazil) after a series of not so productive games with Gilas since last year? U think it's enough for him to justify his inclusion to the team in future Gilas games or stints?

Yes. CJ is familiar with the triangle and he's actually a good bench player in small doses. Also, if you rewatch the semis game against China in the Asian games, CJ saved several possessions and a key drive when China was still up by 9 points with less than 3 minutes left. CJ is our best slasher albeit turnover-prone.

CJ has been useful in all 3 games. He's basically a Terrence Romeo that is actually suited for baskeetball outside of the Philippines and youtube highlights, he's like Jordan Heading but isn't as 1 dimensional. Hindi ko din alam kung anong pinagsasabi ng mga taong kung sino sino na ang hinahanap porket natalo.

Georgia is top 25 in the world, are we saying we beat the 20-25 range countries..

We didn't beat Georgia my man and the win against Latvia is unlikely to be replicated anytime soon. As good as the Latvia game was, it was one game, more of a gift to gilas fans to show that our expectations aren't THAT ridiculous. A spit to the face to garbage sentiments like "Italy is Italy" and "moral victories". It was a historic win but it's in no way a definitive way to say we the top 20-25 countries yet.

Watching "rank 28" Lebanon play earlier, they can still easily shoot our faces off when we meet again.

Perez is cone's favorite topic on his timeouts. Ill adviced shots, silly passes that resulted to turnovers..

CJ’s best weapon in the WC level has always been his elite first step. Thats our best first step since Castros prime. Unfortunately his wingspan is not long so his FG is low. Good thing his 3FG is pretty high as long as he has good spacing. Decision making has improved. But I guess still needs more improvement. Heading is not as explosive but has good fundamentals. I doubt he will be able to finish in the paint at this level. But his shooting will be useful.

His defense this OQT has been good too. The difference between this and his defense in the PBA Finals is night and day. In the PBA Finals, Newsome and Banchero were making mincemeat out of him. Here, he's sticking to his man.

I hope he keeps that up with Gilas.

Im not that low on Gilas. I think if healthy, we should be favored against Lebanon as long as father time doesnt catch up to Brownlee quick.

not just Brownlee, Fajardo might have less than 3 years left in the tank, Japeth is fs not gonna be reliable anymore and Edu's health is extremely volatile. We don't really have any reliable bigs currently besides Kai who's also walking a very thin line since this is the first time we've had this kind of player and we're way over-relying on him both to stay healthy and be available when we need him. It's very very hard to tell wether the likes of Tamayo, Quiambao and Amos would be good enough for us to even be top 5 in Asia after this oqt. IPC is right that we're actually a pretty high mileage team atm, let alone in 2027

The next tourney is 2025 FIBA Asia. The core 12 should still be passable. If Brownlee disappoints, we make the switch but I do think there is a chance that we still stick with Brownlee next year.

I hope they use that as a way to develop the young forwards (Tamayo, KQ and Amos) into Dwight's calibre, not necessarily Dwight's playstyle but his quality as a basketball player, durability and flexibility, can't forget about availability and drama-free too. Damn we need way more Dwight Ramoses

I just stick with the current plan. Most of the development isnt the job of Gilas either way but rather the mother teams.

This is the sad truth.

Like it or not, the SBP is a win-now organization and will always prefer one-and-dones.
