So we are already out of contention for the KO stages?

edit: f*ck we playing Japan in the KO rds

Even if we somehow beat Japan, the Australians would be the next opponent, so basically we are done already.

I believe these are the best U18 team players currently in the country, along with the two bigs from Perpetual. They represent the best of the UAAP and NCAA. Unfortunately, they lost their top two scorers, Gemao and Alas. Additionally, their coach lacks experience, with no prior head coaching experience before his stint with Batang Gilas, and struggles with making quick adjustments. Cabonilas has been contained by Jordan and New Zealand, and it’s the coaching staff's responsibility to guide the team and provide the necessary adjustments. I think this lineup is capable of securing 4th place with a good coach. With Alas and Gemao, they could contend for 2nd place.

30 pts for Medina on 60% FG shooting. Pretty good. From the internet he is a 6'2 guard. What do you know about this kid? His potential?

All around player, can play point as well.

I do hope I'm wrong

but true enough I haven't seen any potential for a possible Senior or even for Cadet level

a typical college level work rate is the current assessment on those kids

hopefully, it will be a driving force on them to improve on moving forward with that international experience

dayunyur are obviously out if we based the statement released to the press by those officials from SBP

now on the other hand we have to be fully aware the "nepotism" culture of that NF

I like coach Alejandro Martinez system he implements on those Japanese kids

so goodluck to our kids "malalaki na yan".

where hoping that we could emulate the same thing in our own backyard

oh dear

the never ending "Learning experience storyline" for our youth team.

This is how youth and collegiate basketball works in the Philippines, and it’s quite complicated. When Coach Franz of La Salle and Coach Eric of NU managed the Youth Team, nearly half of the players were poached by them. As a result, other teams became hesitant to lend their players, fearing they would be recruited or poached.

As much as I’d like Coach Topex or Coach Gold to lead Batang Gilas, their teams are notorious for poaching talent from other schools. It’s likely that top high school players from other UAAP and NCAA teams would be prevented from joining the Batang Gilas team for fear of being recruited.

In my opinion, similar to what Japan has done, we should consider recruiting a foreign coach to manage our youth teams. This could bring fresh perspectives and advanced techniques to improve our program.

The Japs will go all out tomorrow against Batang Gilas with vengeance in mind. Remember, Batang Gilas U-16 beat the Japs in the quarterfinals in last year's FIBA Asia U-16 tournament.

Kids skill set reminds me of Larry Fonacier.

Robert what happen to the smooth and effortless lebanon? Defeated by India..

Almost half of this Japan team was beaten by the complete lineup of U16 PH last U16 Asia Cup. It is crazy how the system of Josh heavily relies on a 1 player, losing that 1 player makes the team incompetent af, there is no plan B at all.

Dumbass coach literally wasted two of the best talented generation of gilas youth in a single year with that 2022 U16, U18 disaster. What could have been.
