Gemao could easily penetrated against that defense. Too bad. We are basically eliminated at this point. I am not seeing them beating the NZL, I am hoping to be wrong though.

NZ is beatable but we need to play a perfect game.

Sometimes miracles happen.

That being said, I don't see us beating Japan or China in the playoffs if we drop the NZ game.

No fucking way we're beating Australia if we squeeze past Japan or China.

Yes, we're 90% done by this point.

I know it's fucking Snow Badua but I really hope this article:

https://www.spin.ph/basketball/fiba...luation-after-fiba-u18-asia-cup-a800-20240830

means Joke Reyes is finally out of the Youth program and should never be given a Gilas coaching role.

If were playing this style we might beat new zealand as lobg as law of averages will come and new zealand wouldnt match enough time to a comeback.. we will do the usual ddo de gualt scheme

Jordan outrebounded Batang Gilas by 20, 58-38.

Small ball pa more. You can't win in rebounding, let alone, the game if your tallest player is only 6'5. This u-18 already and you still bought kids in an adults' game.

Maybe we needed this loss para siguradong tanggal na yung natitirang balat sa pwet ng Philippine basketball. I hope this loss will convince SBP that Josh Reyes has to go as head coach of the Philippine youth teams. We need a drastic change in our youth program.

Not just coaching. Player selection also. We need to be selecting players who at the very least have the potential to make the seniors in their FIBA position. Quality of Andy Gemao, Kieffer Alas, Carl Tamayo at the very least.

We're not sending our best players on FIBA under 16 and under 18.....why?

Gilas Pilipinas need a talent evaluators for our youth teams (boys and girls team).... there are too many youth leagues now a day and it can easily spot a talent and there's also the FILAMNATION helping the Gilas to find players outside the Philippines... there's no excuse for Gilas Pilipinas to send our best players or best team

Crazy that we've had players before who couldn't even crack their team's Team A. Maybe they're too focused on players who could contribute now and keep their jobs rather than picking high potential players.

Also wondering. And why did Fil-Am Nation and other pipelines seemed disinterested? During Kieffer Alas's batch, i dont think the top players from Fil-Am Nation were there.

Kieffer Alas saved Josh Reyes.

If it werent for Alas' Kobesque games last year, that coach wouldnt be here.

It wasn't just Kiefer, everyone contributed and the last 2 fg was by Daja. We even beat Korea by a big margin. When our shots are falling we are elite. What I wish our team did when our shots from 3s didn't go in we made more midrange shots. To keep the game closer and our players' shooting would improve eventually

Didn’t watch the full game but Esperanza looked impressive, he had a nice handle and ability to break down defenders. If we are being honest, other than Gemao this batch isn’t impressive, u18 is also harder than u16 since the bodies of players are more physically mature as well as skills are higher.

Only a coach seyer will allow a clearly insane player to continue and shoot and make 0 from 9 attempts at 3points. Joke seyer is the ultimate great pretender of a coach. Yes, he is telling/ allowing all those boys to epically fail at 3point shooting as long as they want.

How a guy with the mentality and knowledge that cant exceed that of a water boy become a national team coach is something the pbs must publicly explain. All his claimed youth "successes" can be replicated by any pinoy with college coaching experience. There cant be many coaches worse than this one.

Tang*a. Hindi ba masabi ng coach na ito na kung mag 0-2 o 0-3 ka sa 3points wag mo nang piliting mag hero baller??? Napakalinaw naman na maka score naman sila ng maayos sa 2 points pala.

The only thing i like is that i can tell my children that i have seen the guinness book world record holder as the worst baller coach in human history.

We will generally have a strength and size disadvantage against Middle east countries. Even in the U16 team, we needed Filfors Morales and Diao to man the frontline. But we share this weakness with the Japan and Korean team. This is the reason why quickness and shooting should be the focus for development.

Mark Esperanza looked like the golden-haired Terrence Romeo out there. If it wasn't for him, game wouldn't be close.
