2024 FIBA Asia U18 Championship

Hopefully, we can develop Esteban, Burgos, Daja, and Cabonilas to be good wing defenders. They have motor, mobility, and length.

but with Joke as Youth coach good luck with that... They need also to shoot better from the perimeter

Funny thing about this is, even without the DDO, other systems are not applicable to us because of our massive lack of shooting. No pure shooters in this batch at all from U16-U18. Ludovice who is our best shooter is a ball-handler so you can't give him the shooting task. Even our free throw shooting sucks.

Medina is our best/designated shooter... Lorenzo can also shoot from 3..

if we need a spot up shooter last NBTC Fil Am Nation got a 6-4 shooter in Hunter Muramoto and for defense we can have Jayden Jones , 6-4 batch mate of gemao last u16

Malaysian commentator doing his best Quinito impression of giving monickers to players by calling Andy "Halimaw Gemao". LOL

The 3 rotation is Cabonilas, Manding, and Medina.

Hopefully we can see Esteban and Burgos able to play the 3. They have the mobility, but it looks like the skill is lacking. Hope FEU and UST HS can teach them to play the 3.

Now I'm seeing a lineup of:

5'11" Esperanza
6'2" Hunter
6'2" Santos
6'3" Manding
6'7" Castillejos

Indonesia blew out both of Thailand and Malaysia. Tomorrow is an intruguing do or die against them. Without Gemao? I don't know what will happen.

EDIT: English next time as per our site rules. thanks -Sikatrix

Hunter is out of place. If he plays like this, Daja is more deserving of a slot at FIBA Asia. Him and Ludovice arent afraid to compete despite there size. They can also hander the ball, are athletic and have good handles.

Only 13 mins for Gemao. Hope that ankle doesn't swell up tomorrow.

Gemao played after the bad landing but we have to hope that his ankle doesn't swell up.

We can rest Gemao. We have no pressure to win tomorrow. We have already qualified thanks to Indonesia's wins over Malaysia and Thailand.

Of course, I hope the others can step up and prove their worth.

Only a chot/josh reyes team would make you doubt if the Philippines can win against Indonesia in basketball.

I think Christian Vergara is bigger and better than Tumaneng and Castillejos... he's improving everytime I see him play and I heard Justine Baltazar who's the one training him... Christian Vergara only 16-17 years old and he's 6'9 and he has 7'3-7'4 wingspan

Not really. There is only 1 slot for SEABA so with us losing against Indonesia means them going to the Fiba Asia Cup.

I heard about this boy too. He should be taught how to post on youtube to let others see whether he is actually improving or not. The ust guy, brix versoza, is rather stiff. Unless he gets a personal skills coach, he will be doomed to become a bottom bencher in the mpbl at best.

The problem is most of these "promising" tallballers are easily discouraged by their own stupid skills and lack the tenacity to get help from ballers and trainers who can help them in building an attitude for personal excellence. A lot of smallballers have vicious, selfish attitudes and do not want tallballers to look superior to them. A pinoy tallballer's journey towards excellence therefore will always be a lonely one, and somebody has to show him how to do it.

Where do pinoys tall boys really get decent athletic explosiveness and shooting rampage training? Cant the sbp have monthly provincial clinics where they can recommend or even teach at least inexpensive gym traiining for wannabe ballers, including free indovidualized training slots for 6'4 and above 12 and 13 year olds? It is not good if parents only of 5'4 boys are wealthy enough to get their kids on the right track of training.

Guys, is Lebron Jhames Daep better than Castillejos? It's unfortunate that Daep failed to attend the early tryouts of Batang Gilas U-18 pool becoz his high school team was playing in the finals of the NCAA high school tournament at that time. Coach Josh should have given Daep & Daep's high school teammate Arex Borja some consideration to catch up with the training. What if na late sila ng 2 weeks sa training? It's not like Batang Gilas only had a 1 month training. The team/pool had a lengthy training/preparation period.

I think both Daep & Borja are promising.
