Can't see Tab's smooth defense in this Ateneo team. Or is UP just too good?

Bahay as good as advertised. UP crowd booing him..

Torculas might have some upside as a 3/2 yet. He has a good motor, good length, and good mobility on defense. Plus, he's driving down the lane.

Think he got injured though?

As expected, UP had just enough talent to win this game, but Ateneo looked way better today. Bahay’s basketball IQ is definitely not a fluke. And Porter was a rebounding machine today. Bongo, warts and all, is also finding his form.

That UP offense was bad today, lots of hero ball, hurried shots, horrendous 3point shooting and was pretty much bailed out by JD and Torculas. I think they were waiting for that "switch" to turn on and blow away Ateneo but Ateneo always had an answer to stay within striking distance. Alarcon and Torres need to stop their hero ball tendencies. Lopez was too out of control in this game. Alter has improved, Udodo is no Malick but he's fine, I guess. Bayla showed some flashes.

Bahay is legit though. He should own this team now. I think he's got more leadership than Koon and Amos. This Ateneo team is scrappy as hell (Bongo, Tuano, Lazaro, Espinosa, Porter) and they'll be a tough team once that Tab system sets in.

Ateneo finally finds their floor leader and court general in Bahay.

DLSU needs to find theirs or they will be in trouble.

It looks Bahay has done more eating than playing basketball in the past months. He is obviously overweight. No matter how skilled & a smart player he is, if he doesn't watch out his weight, then he might be like a Jerry Pingoy. Skilled & a promising but didn't have the discipline to trim down his weight & maintain it.

To think that Bahay is only 19 or maybe 20 yrs of age now. Imagine is he reaches 23 or 25 yrs of age. Baka mas mataba pa yan kay Belga. Bahay really needs to trim down & watch out for his health.

It seems admu is looking long-term and went with an old school rebuild. Team is now mostly rookies and sophomores being thrown into the fire early (which pushes their upside higher). No rookie veteran transfers and even the missing fsa is a rookie.

It will be interesting to see how they would look when they master the offense (especially with Bahay) and how they will be defensively with a bigman fsa.

Hopefully the alumni recognize the long-term rebuild strategy and be patient. My personal wish is the rebuild also extends to the juniors ranks as the pipeline has been drying up. That built-in chemistry from AHS (the Nietos, Asistio, et. al.) was what made the early Tab years successful. Now that they can’t rely on that, plus the changes in the college recruitment game (options to go pro early for blue chips, veteran transferees, the ‘win now’ mindset, etc.), they’re forced to rebuild at the college level. It’ll be interesting to see how it pans out.

That grassroots foundation is what will make FEU very competitive next season, in my opinion. Those FEU-D boys, besides being very talented, have been playing together for a while and are a championship core.

Koon's jumpers look like a mess. Whoever advised him to start banking shots should be released.

I like the way Jonel Policarpio pushes the ball whenever there are opportunities to score in transition. Though sometimes it results to turnovers, I think it's part of a learning/development process. I feel errors like that is something a coach should consider for the sake of development.

What do you guys expect from a bunch of rookies and sophmores lmao. Its obvious that his team ain't in win now mode lol. The rebuild started when guys like ballungay and brown left early.

This is Ateneo’s fourth game in four straight days and they don’t have the luxury of having the talent depth to rotate. They also have their last game tomorrow. I’m just hoping players don’t injure (or reinjure) themselves at this point, honestly.

Was it only Ateneo playing in four straight days? I believe the other teams were also playing like 3 games in 4 days.

Tab's system can only do so much. You still need talented personnel. This current Ateneo bunch ain't it.

Tab’s an overrated player development guy. Just got lucky with Kouame and a really talented AHS generation plus a few Bo recruits.

Lazaro stagnated and got left behind by his fellow S82 mythical 5 members. Quitevis’ shot is still something opponents disrespect. Amos lost weight but still has nothing more than his outside shot and a few post moves. In fact, he’s still slow, neither a rim protector nor a quick switch guy on pick and roll defense, and his weight loss might have even made him a weaker post option.
