Congratulations to the 85 million dark Empire. We will have to try to go after the death star again at the Olympics. It is our own fault this time. Unfortunately we probably need Jokic back to do it.

Congrats to Germany, they were better team today. They used their physicality really well and stopped our inside game with Milutinov. Some posters need to watch out for their language though.

Serbia had fantastic tournament. As for this game, losing Dobric, our most versatile defender on the perimeter, after just 2 minutes was just too much. We had many chances to turn this game around but made bad decisions and missed a lot of open shots in the second half. However, incredible result for Serbia with half roster missing. Good foundation for future actions.

Serbia would have won this game if only had one of Lucic/Kalinic to add to physicality and versatility on defense. Jokic wasn't even needed here.

Well history is not written with ifs and buts. Maybe if Guduric didn't make so many mistakes, Serbia would have won. Nothing to take way from the biggest basketball nation on the planet. But Germany was simply better. That's all.

What about Micic and Marianovic?
I also missed Nedovic.

We missed a lot of players, but essentially only needed one of Kalinic/Lucic to get the job done here.

Marjanovic is definitely not good anymore for this level of basketball.

Key for the loss was that Milutinov could not score against german bigs. Jovic was too young and unexperienced for this game. He made mistakes I have never seen from a Serbian team and Bogdanovic was switched-off by german defense in crucial minutes of the game.

Is there anyone saying anything differently?

Bogdan was doubled a lot in the second half but Serbia kept missing open shots and made a lot of bad decisions.

Well you (for example) were saying that if you had Lucic/Kalinic the job would have been done. And I disagree with this sentiment. Other posters talk about who was Serbia missing and how things would be different. And I'm not sure they would be. That's all.

It doesn't matter of course now but you think that if Serbia had Jokic, Micic and Lucic for example, things would not be any different?

Half a roster is an exaggeration. Jokic and Micic, the others missing (like Kalinic for example) are not really clearly better than what you had. We also missed Maxi Kleber and Isaiah Hartenstein and Nick Weiler Babb technically, but it's a bit of a stretch to say that they would have changed a lot.

Brother, from a Bayern fan: Lucic is a finished player. Always injured and became much slower this last two years.

Watching how the game went and what we needed for the win or better say make better adjustments in our favor, I thought of Lucic and Kalinic and how they would be so important facing German physicality and defending Wagner with much bigger on ball pressure. But I'm not taking away anything from Germany, they were better team and deserved to win. In fact, they didn't lose a game here, so very deserved title for them.
