Not really 2nd rate. We have three mobile and active ineligible bigs. This team is actually probably stronger than our FIba team because of these 3 bigs.

Disagree. Remove Brownlee, this teams looks a lot different... remember that SEA/Asian Games has that luxury of fielding non-FIBA eligible players as long as they have passports. The FIBA (Asia Cup) team's problem was that it looked like a Tab team being coached in a Chot manner. This is not a diss against Erram, Thirdy, or Belangel... but they were the available ones at the time.

I don't know, I think I take the good with the bad with CJ. Sometimes a team becomes very passive without an initiator of sorts. Jerome Lastimosa will not drive headfirst into a sea of trees, that's what we have CJ for.

Im Chot system, drives to basket is a key element. We need a JC, Romeo kind of players.

CJ will be an excellent scoring bench mob on shorter FIBA defenders in the WC, when Kai sits and we switch to the running game.

More like it's the only element. But in all teams, there has to be a fearless driver kind of guy like CJ, so you're right.

Its a shame we were robbed of Marcio's prime years in Gilas, hes what Pogoy should have been

I think Marcio-Jeff Chan rotation as Gilas main shooters in the 2012 to 2016 period would have been very nice. Then a rotation of Marcio, Matt Wright & Pogoy in the 2017 to 2020 era would have been solid as well.

i really want to have what this RDS is smoking, calling this team better than last 4 qualifying lineups, those gilas versions with Brownlee and a healthy Kouame will smoke every team in this sea games, Philips only edge over malonzo are his motor and rebounding but offensively malonzo is way better than Philipps plus he is also a good help defender, though i agree CStand fits better than Junemar in fiba games,

I think Malonzo works best as a 3 especially against taller opponents, he was only used as a 4 because of the lack of bigs.

sayang we didnt see plays of cstan passing to mason amos..as we can be more deadly.. especially the initial starting lineup of cs bgr, brownlee cj and new..

we didnt able to see breunig if he is the old school 6'6 pf(ala shareef abdul rahim) that can be a problem in years to come

Andy motherfucking Jao. Congratulate the SBP? Please.

Yeah, come on. We won the gold, but that was about our only objective. The gold takes away from the fact that they didn't have secondary objectives other than making the PBA look good. Not many youth players on the lineup, and only a few members of the WC pool were there.

I'd rather have Philips over Malonzo as a 4 because of Malonzo's size and Philips being more rebound and defense oriented. We have too many offensive options on the floor, we need some bangers. Kai will not be doing the dirty work inside. We need more of the Philips, Abueva mentality.

if only Kouame gets an exception, i'd love a big rotation of Kai, Edu, Kouame and whoever else

Reality check, we lost the gold and need to redeem it. If college players compose hlaf of this team we will not even medal in this Games. People again will be mad as hell. If other SEA nation will use pros, Halfs and naturalized players, college player will b a huge disadvantage. Other Nation are taking this tournaments more seriously.

Reclaiming the gold wouldn't have been an issue if we had reacted properly against Indonesia in the first place. Thank God we learned our lesson this time.

And besides, Brownlee would still have been there. You sure we won't medal against Indonesia and Thailand if college players will compose half the squad, and half of vets? That's exactly what vets are for. You fucking balance winning and development. Besides, the kids will still have talent. And with a good gameplan, we can win a medal.

And if people getting mad leads to the resignation of these dickheads in SBP, then let them get mad.

MAkes me wonder, had Junmar, Japeth & Iskati been healthy or available, would guys like Mike Philipps, Mason Amos & Jerom Lastimosa have made it to the final 12-man roster?

Wasn't Amos, Phillips, and Lastimosa enough? We've been sending pros to the SEA Games since 2017 just because we already had Douthit play with the old Sinag team in 2015 and almost lost even with Tab as the coach. This is the compromise. Either they're slowly introduced to a team with pros in a tournament setting or even FIBA window or they become the next Thirdy, Abando, or RJ and make themselves available to the pool.

Of all the SEA Games basketball I've fllowed in the last 30 yrs, this edition is the most competitive. Which makes our winning of the gold medal much more significant.

In hindsight, I would have wanted someone other than maybe Arvin and CJ. Those guys can be replaced by a couple youngsters.

Yeah, I get that we should have pros to help these guys win and calm them down, but the SEA Games is pretty much our only avenue of development, so we have to maximize the opportunity.
