2023 SEA Games (Cambodia)

Maybe it was Chot genius plan after all. Lose to Cambodia so they face Indonesia which they have scouted for and arguably less talented team than Thai. Then in the finals face Cambodia whom would underestimate them.
 
I hope after this one, we can send our younger players (U25) to the SEA Games.

We got the gold back. Now hopefully, we can defend it while at the same time developing our younger options. Our young team is developing, so they can be ready as reserves when called up. Plus, exemptions for guys like Mike, Ballungay, Koon, Lucero.
 
I don't think Choke is smart enough to do mindgames like that. The team just got their mojo together and decided to take the Finals seriously this time. Stiffer defense, more rebounding effort, the little things.

I think the problem for many fans is that a lineup like that would have underachieved if it failed to bring home the gold. This team, under a great coach, is formidable and capable of taking on some West Asian teams. Chot's inability to make timely in-game adjustments almost squandered the potential of this team. I'm glad they were able to beat this Cambodian threat and bring home the gold.

I have to disagree. This Sea team will not beat or get close against Jordan A team

what i noticed with CJ is he plays in one gear. Always in full speed. Seems like he's always rushing. He should learn how to pace himself.

That game did not start well. We only fought back when Kouame came in. No Kouame, that team would be cooked. Unfortunately, a big man rotation of CS, Rosser and Philips > Kai, Japeth, Malonzo in Fiba.

I don't know, I think I take the good with the bad with CJ. Sometimes a team becomes very passive without an initiator of sorts. Jerome Lastimosa will not drive headfirst into a sea of trees, that's what we have CJ for.

its the job of his team mates to set screen for them.. basketball isnt just everyone scoring.. even if one guy is just sccoring its still team work if the other guys are doing their job behind the scenes usually its the screener big the one who screens the rim protector

He actually played well in the 4th. He did not rush it and played more with Brownlee. He got a wide open 3 with a Brownlee screen then he drove and kicked out to Brownlee for a 3. The next play he cut and brought his man. Then JB had an iso knowing full well CJ's man will not double. He just now has to cut on the fouls.

He is still has the team's fastest first step, he can drive any time he wants. But of course he can't finish against the taller FIba defenders. But that doesn't mean he can't attract attention and make plays for others. Also, it seems he is more comfortable when screened shooting for 3. IRC he is a better 3 pt shooter than Newsome. If he can be consistent, he can be a good piece for WC.

rosser and philips are forwards...
