I dont know why Angge does not proceed with the surgery. He can still contribute but off the bench and in limited minutes like how he anchored the defense against Jordan after Dwairi ate Kai in the 1st qtr. Is he still hoping he will be picked for the WC?

The lack in preparation and cohesiveness is really apparent. I like that we 're trying out Jerom who brings his own combination of defense, quickness and scoring. But bringing in Rosser is a big question mark for me. CS has already been denied an exemption IRC. Phillips is our next exemption hope. Rosser is our third rate ineligible big. Dont tell me there is no other eligible big out there that we can actually use in the WC.

Ross is also almost useless right now. Schonny would have been more useful and eligible at that. But we know SBP is pandering to SMC.

Can't deny Ross's desire, but his spot should have been given to Black, and Marcio's to maybe Schonny.

SBP's pandering to the PBA bigwigs by just going an almost all-PBA lineup. Would have been better if we had more young guys, but what benefit will that serve the PBA?

Chot doesnt know how to use Ange. Its pointless for him to return and he probably played his last game for Gilas. Unless Tab miraculously comes back...

Like what I have been saying ever since. Basketball politics is like Philippine politics. Dont expect anything to change.

PBA is like the political dynasties, both are cancer to society.

To be fair to Marcio, he isn’t shooting bricks.

Schonny is an unknown quantity.

Schonny is too turnover prone to be a primary ball handler. RJ though

Yeah, at least. At least Marcio hasn't been Pogoy-level bad.

But still, I'd rather go with youth at this point.

Unfortunately, Marcio is our best SF now. He can somewhat guard taller perimeter players and can still shoot. Schonny is more of an SG. Unfortunately Arvin's still not good enough. He had a couple of glaring miscues on defense against Cambodia, in each case Marcio was brought in. Arvin also does not have much of a driving or in between game. He has a tendency of forcing 3s and not varying his attack.

I'm happy Jerom is finally showing his stuff. I think Ive been advocating for him to be in the pool since two years ago.

Arvin's in his prime. Unlikely he can improve from here. I'd been advocating for him, and I was wrong. He's a defensive liability, man. As for best SF, Oftana sana, but he got injured. Man, would have been nice to see him there. He was good on defense.

Happy to see your faith in Jerom rewarded. At least we have options other than Scottie, Kiefer, Bolick, and RJ.

anlayo na naman, nakapunta pa sa US LOL

I’m talking about the Indo basketball programme (playerse selection, NP process, etc) not about their chances of getting into higher level in Asia etc. It would take time as long as the fed and other stakeholders are on the same page.

Be humble and respectful, if getting a SEA games gold is already achievement for other SEA countries, so be it. It always one step at a time. Don’t put your bragging rights just to justify their still/not catching up or no international exposure, etc. that’s their problem, don’t dipped yourself into it.

Lols.... Did you get the point? Or just hate someone else? And FYI, They can't use multiple ineligibles in FIBA sanctioned tournament... They can't do this shit on FIBA events, And as i said most of regional champs in respective regions will not affect their status of more powerful countries in basketball, Do you think Cambodia or Indonesia are better than Philippines if using FIBA eligibility rules? Sometimes use your head before you click...

Expect what? Losing is just normal part of the game, upsets happen all the time and like I said the Palestinians and those lower tier Arabs countries are extremely competitive, they can pull upsets on good a night. But getting trashed and losing to a Cambodian with Chot's supposedly "redeem team" is embarrassing. Stop with this whataboutism it is not a legitimate argument, you're just deflecting the real issue here, Chot is incompetent as a coach and a program director.

Chot is not a good coach but I'm sure Multiple naturalized Cambodian side is much better than 2015 Palestine squad... I don't think Gilas lose to USA team (Cambodia) is somehow embarrassment... Try check multiple social media account who are getting respect and getting bashed online.... Cambodia now flooded with hate comments in all social media sites by all nationalities in ASEAN people online... Cambodia is the embarrassment of whole tournament as whole, Not just for basketball... I think you are the ones who whataboutism about pride... Losing to them is not to be ashemed of since all of us know that they were bannered by American mercenaries, Not by local Cambodian players.... Hate Chot if you want but the real issue here is the integrity of the tournament as whole....

What he listed was the citeria as per FIBA. What you are saying here is more of process. Totally different.

Yeah... I Know that but all of those criteria will not be process w/o money involve... If only criteria will follow, Cstand of Philippines, Biboy Eugenio of Indonesia, Chris Dierker of Vietnam should be granted now their eligibility status since they are already sure in those criteria..

Please confirm if the criteria also applies to Ange’s situation? thank you!

Ange did not get exemption granted cause of point 3
3. Age of acquiring citizenship and establishing residency

The former part (citizenship at 22 yrs ) what people get wrong is they think it's because Ange was naturalized with no Pinoy blood this is incorrect.

Havig said that Ange also gets no points witb NO relationship to a former Philippine citizen . Thus is not entncity! note though in guidelines, relationship isn't a mandatory requirement like residency but a bonus referred to other connections.

Age BTW is mandatory consideration cause the exception is for a AGE base cuttoff rule (16 passport)

I just let the money component pass, but noticed it causing misleading information, the application fee to file for exemption is published to all federations, let me check again what it's (it's around 5k euros ) .

It's pure tismis that it's in the millions, not unless one is referring to pribe or lobbying money , (talk aboit misleading people witb a different subject LOL)

Basically this if the case application has solid reasons thst match the criteria there is absolutely no need for pribe or lobbying money LOL (style recto ang isip). Now it is sobrang layo like Clarkson (zero residency and falsification of passport date ) that's a different subject already

BTW what you hear in media or public rumors are just half the story, in any declined application, there always information the public is not aware of thst is private to the matter . Do not just believe what you read in media , there is always something missing others are not aware off

What the hell are you even blabbering about? Why you folks keep injecting what happened almost a decade ago, and who gives a sh^t if Cambodia can beat Palestine, how does that improve our current situations? And what pride are you even talking about, I never mentioned anything about pride, do you even know whataboutism mean?
Who give's a f^ck what happened back in 2015 when we have a serious issues currently with our national team? And mind you, Chot already lost the gold medal against the Indonesians last SEA Games tournament, and losing to a Cambodian squad is a testament that he should leave the fck our national team alone. Walang delikadesa ang walang hiya. I don't give a hoot what people think about the Cambodian. The real issue here is Chot Reyes himself, he's the program director and he should be aware of the rules, and if he doesn't know, then it just proves how incompetent he is. He failed to adapt to the current ruling, and failed to adapt against the imports of the Cambodians.

We can only control how we manage our team Gilas, how others do things like Cambodia is irrelevant, who cares if they have 5 NP that the rules we approved allowed. Doesn't mean we should follow them ( like field 5 NP FIBA definition (we have 4 ineligibles ) to ensure we win SEAG . The latter is something we can control (fielding 5 NP LOL) for what benefirt. ? Talk about lack of foresight and stupid priorities

OT ,but since discussed recently here, re posting

My proposed changes to FIBA eligibility rules

Naturalized player : Remain as 1 per tournament with passport, must establish 3 years residency and start residency at 25 yrs old. Rationale: You want NP to contribute at his prime to level of domestic competition (no hugot NBA mercenaries)

11 local none NP roster spots per team.
U16 rule remains , but with an exception for those with family heritage to the country. Definition criteria for heritage: A great grand parent or earlier parent generation of player must have lived in selected country for 10 years as a minor (before 18) and player must secure passport before 21st Birthday .

*Note Clarkson will pass with propose change

* maybe limit # of exceptions to 5 per team

Hoping for a Phi-Cambodia rematch in the finals. It would be very unfortunate of us if both Brownlee and Perez plays the way they did the first time. I feel the complexion of the game would've had been more competitive if we didn't miss a lot of gimmies early.
But first things first. Both teams should take of their respective semis assignments.

iI actually wouldn't mind this rule to be the norm for SEA. I'd rather have this than Gilas cruising the whole tourney and facing a worthy opposition every now and then.

Yeah, actually. It would toughen up our guys and expose them to better competition. The propriety of the rules is another matter.

Even with improved competition, I just hope we keep sending college players, even HS graduates backstopped by veterans. Look, winning gold shouldn't be the main concern in this tournament anymore (which will be tough to accept for many fans). It's development and establishing eligibility.

I want to see the lighter side of this Gilas campaign in the SEA Games. As bad as everyone is feeling after that loss to Cambodia, I want to just dwell on the little gain that Phi basketball will get in this campaign, and that is the impressive performance of Mike Philipps as a blue-collar role player with the potential of being the taller version of Mark Pingris.

I remember some years ago, some posters here were wishing or hoping for a taller version of Mark Pingris in Philippine basketball. Well, that guy is Mike Philipps. Hindi nga lang FIBA eligible as of now, but I think Philipps will get an exception soon.
