My final 12 :

Brownlee, Hermoso, Perez, Ganuelas, Lassiter, Newsome, Oftana, Ross, Amos, M.Phillips, Tolentino and Lastimosa.

out : Gray, Black & B.Phillips

why Tolentino and Lastimosa in? Yes we will win but how would our SEA neighbours react when most of our players are foreign- born. The two must be included so as to present a semblance of “local-ness” otherwise they will say Philippines won because it is manned mostly by “foreign mercenaries”. Forgive me for this term but I anticipate negative feedbacks from our rivals.

I agree. This is why I agree with the Hagop rule. Before the Hagop rule we were getting good players that had dubious or far connection to the Philippines. We were literally recruiting any good player that at least has a grandparent that was Filipino or anybody that could produce a Filipino passport. Let me remind you that when it comes to Filipino passport anybody can get it if the price is right. Guys like Alvarado and Rob Parker have them right until it was proven their so-called Filipino ancestor was not Filipino.

Even with guys that have parents or grandparents that were Filipinos, everybody knows these guys were developed abroad. If we bring a Philippine team that is 90% guys that developed their game outside the Philippines, what does it say about us? Are we that desperate that we will go for almost overseas-growns because they are taller, more athletic and more skilled when many home growns are good enough if not slightly shorter or slightly less athletic or less skilled than their overseas-grown counterparts? Also, are we really going for a team that is more than 50% Fiba ineligible? Are we just saying that throw development and chemistry out of the door, we are going with all our good ineligibles so we can win Gold, continuity and preparation for the WC be damned. Then come WC, Chot will complain about the lack of practice time when he could've picked guys who could play for the WC in the SEA games team.

Why are we worrying what other countries will think in this tournament? Actually, our neighbors have taken advantage this rule to put more ineligible. For example, Thailand they have 4-5 foreign born player plus they have the Thai-German guy playing In Europe. Look how Indonesia treat this competition fielding 3 naturalized players. Vietnam are doing the same and maybe the host Cambodia will follow same rule. That is why people are asking where Ange is when we badly needed size? And also, at this time being conservative is not an option.

yeah, i agree. why take out black and ben philipps?

black was born here, grew up here, studied here and can speak tagalog fluently.

ben philipps assimilated himself here, he is studying here and can also speak tagalog fluently.

why disenfranchise these guys? they are more local than those thai-ams, those indo-fors and those cam-fors.

we want to exclude ben philipps and aaron black based on physical appearance. that's ridiculous.

Black over Ross, Miah over Arvin or Marcio. Might wanna focus on youth while preparing to win gold. Plus, we need to make a case for Miah's eligibility.

I might go for Gray instead of Lassiter or Ross

no comment on what you think should be the lineup, but come on, we are now affected by what other countries think? what if other countries think we shouldnt play Clarkson? what if they think we should change into a monarchy? what if they think Mindanao should be part a different country? what if what if what if.

the host put out rules and guidelines. are we following it? if we are, end of story. other people can think what they want. we cannot please anybody.

I’d keep Ross and Lastimosa since these two are our only pure PGs.

Underrated best lineup possible as I see michael Philips to be a long term fixture of nt..how will aaron black bea s tall pg and jeremiah gray as a 6'5 upgarde at sg position..fiba eligibility is joke nowadays as the agents can now bought it..

Those guys (Mike and Miah) are the ineligibles we should be focusing on. Miah as a 6'5" SG/SF, and Mike as a 6'8" athletic center. They should be lined up for this SEA Games to fix their eligibility. Maybe BGR as well for the tweeners.

Lol so Indonesia is going to field 3 naturalize players. Another failure for the SBP and Choke in assembling a team, they could have fielded Brownlee together with Kouame but they had to prioritize their egos, agendas and politics instead of doing what is best for the national team smh.

no the sbp see that coming, if SBP wanted to have good graces with fiba with our eligibles you do the right thing, the three naturalized player limit was funny..Dame diagne will be tagged as local because he was in the lineup before 16..

If the team is aiming for olymmpics they should beat these kind of teams..

Lol we were lulled into complacency when we found out Bolden and DMX couldn't play.

the inclusion of newsome, ross and gazillion of bigs is a signal that we might even overdoing it and not field enough shooters

I still believe Gilas will re-claim gold this coming SEAG even with Indons playing 2-3 naturalised players. Unlike in 2021 edition when Philippines had limited idea how Bolden play, his strengths and weaknesses. This time we are familiar with Prosper ask CStand he will take care of him. If Indons will fully utilise him for full 40 mins then we will do the same with Brownlee. I think our boys can cover the other 2 Indo NPs… again believe me we will win…

Agree.
I'm happy that Aaron Black finally gets a national team/pool call up. I just hope he makes it to the final 12-man roster. Its good that he gets the reps playing international competition now to prepare himself for the near future FIBA & other international game stints. A No. of our Gilas point guards aren't getting any yoinger so Black could be a possible successor to any of them.

On Jeremiah Gray, although he's not FIBA eligible as of the present, he might get an exception someday.
