2023 Lithuanian NT

Because you were too much excited that Birutis is out.

There are much more weirder names in a reserve team: Tautvydas Baltrusaitis who is averaging 1pt in U20 EC right now and averaged 8 pts in RKL. Then undersized heavy center Budrys who averaged about 8 pts in the third worst NKL team. Mantas Litvinas - i don't even know him. He was benched in Siauliai and before that he had played in RKL. Obviously, he is not good for U20 team. Valunta - averaged 7 pts in Mazeikiai in NKL. J. Paukste - averaged about 9 pts in the worst NKL team, but he is the tallest human in Lithuania ever (224), so at least there is what to see.

These guys taken because someone had to go to Taiwan. Federation made good deal with them. 3-4 guys will join main NT, rest of the scrubs will go to Taiwan.

Those 3-4 could simply join main NT camp. There is no sense to make a team from them and scrubs. Initially there was completely different list of the reserve team. Just it didn't happen and 'holes' were filled like that.

Birutis will be with team until JV joins, unless something happens to JV. or DMO.

I am basically a fan of Balciunas, but I admit this is too much. He seems to be meshing sports and financial goals into one. If you create reserve NT, make it serious. It's a disgrace. IDC about Taiwan's money. Gonna respect NT. Virtually it's not a big deal, but Balciunas just messes with the prestige of NT this way.

Do you realize that some-one will have to guard Montenegro mobile shooting bigs? Serbia can go small too. They have pieces like Smailagic, Pokusevski, Jovic and others.

Are u able to read? i said my roster is builted for Greece NT. If we lose that game doesnt matter what Mexico or Montenegro plays

3rd center he will not play,he is just incase injury or faul problems happens. Dont need imagine that if game goes by plan all 3 centers will play

But from press conference coach said Birutis dont want to be 3rd center,so he will go only if Jonas/Dmo wont go.

Basketnews is discusiing same things what i was talking this new federation media nonsenses and using players names and player is suprised seeing their names

Are you drunk? Montengero is in our group, dummy. We have to do well in the group first to reach the other group with Greece and USA.

Dinosour expert

I explain u situation before but if you are like 6 old child that need attention and asking same questions i wont give u that

Go and listen what Greece NT coach said after draw if your little boys brain cant figured playing system

Redneck

What are you talking about? Top 2 clubs of each group will qualify to second round. Our group is Montenegro, Egypt, Mexico. To avoid the mess we need to beat Montenegro and it's not going to be easy.

Well, despite that farce with reserve NT, eventually A NT situation turned out to be not so tragic as it looked at some point. Tubelis, if Sixers allows, will join the team on July 28 like JV. Maksvytis says that most likely D. Giedraitis, Sirvydis, maybe Jogela will join main camp.

My only real disappointment is that we may go with some-one like Kariniauskas. Dude was trash in the CL for Rytas. He is not NT material. I won't mention all the disadvantages. I don't see how this is the answer. It's another wasted spot, IMO, as with Zemaitis it that's what happening.

Jokubaitis
Brazdeikis, Dimsa
Kuzminskas
Sedekerskis, Bendzius
Valanciunas, Motiejunas

I see those as locks. Would like to close this with:

D. Giedraitis/Nirmantas, Radzevicius, Sirvydis, Tubelis

And I still don't understand why Velicka is not in one of 3 NTs...

It's good first game is Egypt and second Mexico. For this team to mesh it will take time and first serious test will be 3rd game against Montenegro. Even if at that time we'll have the ticket to the next phase, the points are taken to the next round so we need that win against Montenegro in any way. It's almost certain that Greece will lose against USA, while we can come to the next group as undefeated and having points advantage against Greece if by any chance that might have influence.

Dubljevic with 44.8% threes this season, Simonovic last season in the G League 39% threes, Vucevic 35% from three and has set career highs in field goal percentage in short and long mid-range shooting zones (55%, 49%).

OK, now could someone explain me what the heck will Maksvytis do with all three Valanciunas, Motiejunas, Birtutis? Anyone? Please?

They will compete for the worst defensive 5 in the planet?

Basketball-Reference and various other sources have Donatas Motiejūnas at PF or PF/C and the roster/candidate list is not deep at PF.

:)

That surprises me as well.

My only real disappointment is that we may go with some-one like Kariniauskas. Dude was trash in the CL for Rytas. He is not NT material. I won't mention all the disadvantages. I don't see how this is the answer.

Kariniauskas PER of 4.1 in 18:30 of CL play for Rytas was indeed forgettable. But then who are the alternatives at PG now? Margiris Normantas? Or would you suggest bringing Žygimantas Janavičius or Martynas Gecevičius out of semi-retirement?

:(

So the rumor is that Sirvydis looks good with reserve NT. Exhibition will show more, but I think he's nearly a lock since Radzevicius out with an injury. Maybe Sirvydis can at least partially solve the lack of true shooters since Grigonis out. It's good that Tubelis will join NT. If he won't prevail against Maldunas and Tarolis it will be very disappointing case let's face both latter guys are not even close to be true NT material and definitely have no future. The lack of such defenders as Butkevicius, Radzevicius at 3 will force Maksvytis to push Sedekerskisa at 3 when he will need more defense and hopefully these days Kuzminskas feels more natural at 4.

I see 4 main problems of this upcoming NT. No proper back up PG (most annoying to me). Lack of true shooters (lack of Grigonis). Lack of defensive glue guys (Butkevicius), no definite answers at 4 (specially if Sedekerskis will have to play 3 a lot).

Nevertheless I'm very satisfied with the outcome. At some point it seemed like it's gonna be complete collapse. Now we have obvious leaders, solid role players and a chance to incorporate new young talent.

My pre-exibition stage prediction of final roster is this:

Jokubaitis, D. Giedraitis
Brazdeikis, Dimsa, M. Normantas
Sedekerskis, Sirvydis
Kuzminskas, Tubelis, Bendzius
Valanciunas, Motiejunas

I just refuse to incorporate Kariniauskas, even if he has basically red carpet under current conditions being the only nominal PG after Jokubaitis (assuming coaches will afraid to go with 21yo Marciulionis as a back up for still 22yo Jokubaitis). I hate the idea of such players running the NT.

I wanted to say that it's the first time when NT truly draw all possible young talent to the NT that deserve it, but somehow Velicka slipped (strange that no-one from media asked about this). Rubstavicius declined the invitation and that's it for now. All others who had to be invited are invited.

I think it's time to take a closer look at this. A smell a big bandwagon fans once Sirvydis will get hot in one of these friendly games:

Sirvuha the biggest enigma in LTU basketball this summer. He can really go from being meh to being an X factor of EB. It's good that he'll get properly exposed in those 2 first games. All eyes on him generally. From recent workouts I like his physical development. He added strength, but remained agile and flexible:
