Yeah. As I said, he seems to be the latest of lanky homegrown forwards with long arms who like one handers. The difference is that he seems to be decent at 3 and is good enough to help bring up the ball when the PG is trapped. I think he's ability to break SK's press was instrumental in our breaking their defense.

Doesnt panic and seems heady. good job

Not your traditional big. And he looks quick laterally. Hope he develops into a 3 or even a 3/2. A lanky 6'4" 3/2 would be a boon.

Boy dribble Velasquez tho did Daniel Edi a 1v1 nasty with a jab, move, cross, drive, pull up swish to end the 3rd Quarter. Edi threw the ball after the buzzer sounded out of frustration

Tbf with Velazquez, he can pass. He had a lot of nice assists in the first half. And he really is shifty, albeit not quick.

7-0 start by Batang Gilas, Shingo is limping this is bad news for Japan

These Japs are creating mismatches inside. Need some counters.

And our shots aren't falling as much. The Japs are hustling as hard.

Their taller than us in most positions. The boys need to adjust to the Japs length.

And the Japs are getting offensive rebounds. Meanwhile, we're reduced to one-and-dones when we miss.

Japan are defending us well and killing us on the glass on both ends of the floor. We need to find a way to return the favor.

Yes we were being killed on the board. This team finished the half seems to be better at boxing out. We need our biggest guy to push away that Shiritami. But many of them are relentless at the boards.

If our shooting will not be half of what we did in Korea game no chance at all. They will just collapse on us. We also need to pass the ball to our bigs in the dumper post when we drive

And they need to keep their heads together. They're panicking, not executing.

Josh is getting his sets right, boo-boos are execution and rebounding. He has to motivate the kids.

Yeah. We need to hunt for mismatches in the post. If we can't find one, make one.

Maybe rather than let guard penetrate against a big after they switch. Find our bigs to post up their small players.

Our bigs dont seem to be the postup types. Amos seems to be decent but he is a guard.

They love to switch. So, make them pay for switching. Germany v. USA.

Japan's doing exactly that against us.

Defensively and lengthwise this JP team is lightyears ahead of SK. Shots that were open last time are being bothered if not outright blocked by the Japs, even 3 pt and perimeter shots mind due. We dont have any physical or skill advantage of the either so its hards to generate offense.

We can try. But their guards seem pretty physical too. Generally they seem to be more "batak" than us.

Yup. Our bigs just have to be able to pass out of Japan collapsing the paint.

I like this Ludovice guy. He is the smallest guy on the floor but he is deceptively adept going after the passing lanes. Also, he is our best shooter.
