Competente proving himself abroad is a good idea for those that are able to do so. Other homegrown prospects currently in US high schools include Kenji Duremdes and Echo Laure.

hope RDO's son can be sponsored by his kinakapatid Kai Sotto thru EWP to train at TSF.

Foreign US exposure at mid teens at high school level is my point .
It's the development environment, not the enthicity of the player.
You can be African and 6,6 foot tall , but if you play for a Philippine high school you will be most likely a center.
BTW the definition of fil foreign isn't mix enthicity, but a Filipino citizen who is based overseas, my son is a fil foreigner .

Someone like Hepa or Tolentino isn't really a fil foreigner, they are just American citizens who have Filipino entnicity

So Panopio and Bayla are Fil Foreigns.

While Jalen Green and Clarkson are not?

Mag advance na ako, for next iteration of FIBA Asia U16, if the kid has passion and trained well we will have by then i think a 6'10" - 7'0" Son of RDO. Hopefully there will be kids emerging that have same capabilities and potential as what the current core have. We are really improving on the 2-5 positions. Its the PG that seems we lack quality and size.

Next year???

2023 is next (Since 2021 dapat tong 2022 U16)

2007-2008 kids.

I will search who are notables. I only have CJ amos as of now.

Edit: Actually, we have some short list as of now

2007 Born Gilas
Fil Foreign
CJ Amos

Homegrowns:

Kiefer Alas
TJ De los Santos
Renzo Gatmaitan
Gian Gomez
Jaime Gomez de Liaño
Bryan Hachuela
Henry Madrangca
Lebron Manding
Daniel Sta. Maria
Renzo Tabunar
Emer Vales
Kyn Vicente

Obviously, more Fil Foreigns and Homegrowns will be invited next year

But I dont think there are big names there next year except for CJ.

Well Jalen is American citizen though I think Jordan has Filipino citizenship so he counts as fil foreign. But people should stop looking at it genetically as well because just because someone is full Filipino doesn’t mean he isn’t fil foreign either.

According to anayzed: Fil Foreign is defined as Filipino Citizen who is based overseas.

So, Lebron Lopez is not Fil Foreign because he is based here.

Anyway, enough for the Homegrown/Fil Foreign Classification.

Only 3 classifications matter in Fiba for Gilas.

1. Eligible
2. Not Eligible
3. NP

Legally Clarkson is a Filipino citizen, so is Dalph and Bayla .
Now if you're referring to enthicity then Bruno Mars, Green all have Filipino enthicity, but from a legal standpoint are not Filipino citizens

I think that kind of mentality is what holds people back from accepting a Kouame as a local when fiba could look at them as such.

Yes of course LeBron Lopez or Abeuva, Castro Williams are not fil foreigners like all those with Chinese or Spanish foreign enthicity is not a fil foreigner

Actually from a basketball standpoint it matters to classify players a developed locally homegrown or overseas based, cause it really is a reflection of their type of game developed , it's basically referring to where what environment their gsme was influenced by. (It matters in terms of style and type of gsme ).
That is why Bayla is being compared to Dwight and not a Pogoy or Konov to Tuffin and not so much Troy

Contrary to what some may be accusing me off, where one develops his gsme is actually a relevant meaningful basketball discussion. As an example Dalph style is different from Remy Martin a reflection of where they were developed.

Should we really care for the labels? Really Analyzed? Baka bukas, may 3 page explanation about who's Fil-foreign and who is of Filipino ethnicity only, like the Draft eligibilities and rules na naman

Correct, what Kouame is , he has no Filipino entnicity as either of his parents were former Filipino citizens or any ancestor.
But he is legally a Filipino citizen, (not half or anything but fully legally a Filipino citizen there is no such thing as % citizen)

No need to make it that complicated tbh imagine dictating if someone is fil-foreign only based on their preference. That's what we call "paladesisyon" and none of my colleagues like those type of people lol

Every batch/generation has Lebron.

Guy just wanted to emphasize pureblooded who grew up in the country, played first in the country can not be this good. nahihiya lang sabihin.

if next year looks like RDO son is still raw at the moment. Hopefully within a year there will be improvements in his skill. Still better to expose early against better competition.

hope RDO's son can be sponsored by his kinakapatid Kai Sotto thru EWP to train at TSF.

It would be better if RDO spend some money, have the boy enroll in a private school, that competes under a real CIF program.

hahaha...I'll just go with math's 3 labels, Eligible, Not Eligible and Naturalized

Ugh the comment section of the PHI-ROK game is so toxic. Puro mga copy-paste Peenoise.

I agree. Toxic Filipino mentality in the comment section that's why some foreigners thought some Peenoys are so bastos/rude in the comments section.
