I would be happy & satisfied if we get the bronze. Without China, I think we have a very good chance of a podium finish. I feel we have a good chance against New Zealand (I think its a 50-50 chance).

I'm confident of beating teams like Iran, Lebanon, Kazakhstan. What I worry are teams like Korea, Japan, & NZ. Of course Australia is the heavy favorite to win the gold.

And we're gonna face Japan in the group stage. Our guys need to perform well.

PG: Andy Gemao, Jacob Bayla
SG: Jayden Jones
SF: Caelum Harris
PF: Basti Reyes, Patrick Perez
C: Zain Mahmood

This 7 would probably be our core. Including some more homegrowns.

Yes. Very undersized in Bigs. Will be Guard and Wing oriented

No China, Chinese Taipei, Jordan, Syria, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka.
Won’t be long before we start seeing Guam, Samoa, Fiji, PNG get more of an opportunity.

What's Patrick Perez's play style, and where's he from?

I'm not sure the list above mentioned are really the core players who are impressing in trainings.. just saying.

Oh. Let's see and wait for the final 12 then.

Can u give some names and clues. Sir @Analyzed. Haha.

It is a combination of homegrowns and locals I bet

Japan actually worries me more than Iran or Lebanon does. Consistent yung Japan in always figuring among the top 6 in Asian youth tournaments. Iran isn't that consistent, so as Lebanon.

As I've said many times, when it comes to Asian youth tournaments, its the East Asian teams & not the West Asian teams that figure well.

I hope our talent is enough, and our coaching staff is adequate, to guarantee us a spot in the U17 World Cup.

You can find some info here.

He is a 6'6 PF/C.

From California.

Looks like he averaged 25 ppg in the states.

Let's see if it will translate to Batang Gilas.

I am trying to find more videos of him though.

Looks like he might be the 5, and Zain might be the 4, for this iteration of the U16 team. Nice naman, a true small ball lineup. A 4 at 5, and a wing(?) at 4.

This is a testing ground for proper small ball, which is good for Philippine basketball. Fits our size better.

Patrick is like Basti imo in terms of Mobile Face up Bigs who can shoot from the perimeter. And Attack from the perimeter.

The Tallest Most Ideal Lineup Frontline would be:

Basti at SF, Mahmood at PF, and Perez at C.

But can change. I remember that big wing beside thirdy in a picture.

We may not be aware on other homegrowns too.

If Only Femi and Jayden are available

One common trait of the Japanese teams, may it be their senior or youth national teams - their players play with so much discipline. Japan puts so much emphasis on teamwork & discipline. They're not really a big team specially in the youth level. Parang Batang Gilas lang naman sila in terms of size.

Did Josh Reyes ever coached(head coach) a highschool team or a college team?

We have sort of an update on the latest cuts for the tryout. From Andy Gemao's yt he mentioned some of the notable players who made the top25 for what he said was for the U17 squad.

Not clear on that yet, but he said that the filams made it along w notable sons of pba players miranda reroma compton nieto andy and 2 NU teammates, two from pampanga and basti.
