Notable names we know in U16

Foreign Based:

Bayla
Jones
Caelum
Mahmood
Patrick Perez
CJ Amos

Homegrown Based:

Andy Gemao
Basti Reyes
And that Kid from Pampanga beside Thirdy (I really want to know his name)

Those are 9 Kids already. They are waiting for 1 Foreign based pa daw. I wonder how many Foreign based and Local based will make the Final 12.

Speaking of Jaycob Bayla, youtuber ph bucket said that his source said "Bayla is 50-50 to make the lineup. A 6'5 Foreign Based Combo Guard 50-50?. If true, then how talented these kids can be. Lol. But I dont think it is true

PS: Domangcas is cut because of injury. Femi is unavailable because of academics, and Harper (not sure of eligible talaga) has conflict scheds.

Here you go. Please ID the fellows

ZM is one big kid I hope his middle eastern genes really kicks in hoping to reach the 6'8 to 6'9 level before his 21st bday.

I feel old..lol at the names on the list. Most of them didnt even come over. BO went home and didn't even play in the UAAP and some people were disappointed on the games that he played in ( Fr Martin Cup? I forgot)

Only CS and Sanggalang stuck around in the PBA

We are really lucky to have Cris Gopez and Fil Am Nation Select. Its sad that we didn't have something this well organized before. Now foreign scouting is well streamlined and hopefully this continues for decades.

Yes! Brian Organ for the win!!! Should be on the all-time All-Name team.

Whatever happened to 6'6 SF Nico Monachini? He's supposed to be the best among his contemporaries that include Ryan Buenafe, Justin Chua, Nico Salva, Arvie Bringas and the OG Pinoy Unicorn Jericho De Guzman. Man, this batch is all hype but zero results.

I think its impossible for a college coach not to be accused of funneling players. The conflict of interest will always be there which is one of the reasons why we need full time Gilas coaches.

Hmm. I think thar was the original plan before pandemic e.

Hire a European Coach as Full Time Gilas Coach. And they will join as many tourney as they can.

But pandemic happened.

Oh. So u dont like the idea of Coach Tab Coaching Ateneo, and Coach Chot coaching TNT while coaching Gilas???

Or you are only referring to Batang Gilas?

Idk. Who will be the Appropriate Full time Batang Gilas Coach hmmm. Ayo and Goldwwyn are coaching schools already

Im talking about all Gilas program teams needing full time coaches even if they are foreign but especially under 16. In fact, a foreign Batang Gilas coach could probably help with foreign recruitment. Just dont have them recruiting for schools. Motivations can be easily questioned if a coach does double recruitment.

I was jealous of La Salle 's team B at the time. All of them were tallish for their position and skilled daw.

Is the Nico guy a real person or a made up name? There were a lot of fake news at the time and some like to make up players as a joke

I can't believe my eyes that China isn't playing in this youth tournament. Well, it could only mean one less problem for us. Even Taiwan is no patsy in the youth level. In fact, Taiwan has done better in the youth level than Middle Eastern teams like Lebanon & Jordan.

It would be interesting to see the Qatar U-16 team if it has some foreign players of no Qatari descent.

Jordan isn't also in the tournament. Well, Jordan hasn't figured in the Asian youth level tournaments in the last 20 years or so. As what I've said many years now, in the Asian youth level, its the East Asian teams that really compete for the medals. West Asian countries or Middle East countries don't really figure prominently in the youth level.

Whats our peak here? Silver? Do we have any chance vs New Zealand?

I would be happy & satisfied if we get the bronze. Without China, I think we have a very good chance of a podium finish. I feel we have a good chance against New Zealand (I think its a 50-50 chance).

I'm confident of beating teams like Iran, Lebanon, Kazakhstan. What I worry are teams like Korea, Japan, & NZ. Of course Australia is the heavy favorite to win the gold.
