Im confused. So a 17er can play in the U-16?

Please someone correct me if I'm wrong but from the way I understand it, this tournament is supposedly be held last year but was postponed to this year. Hence the eligible players from last year are now 17 years old.

Again, I stand corrected by this

Yep.

Born 2005 to be exact.

Ahh the infamous Covid Bryant. Born Feb 2020. His parents must not like him.

How unfortunate naman po Sir Dotch, it's not fair to blame the kid about the gilok gilok moments of two individuals who only want to taste the nectar of some wild hot moments..I also stand to be corrected, thank you.

pardon me on this, just a stupid question on my part..so it's the pimp thing on the part of the employer?

I know that our youth team will be under again with another Reyes, Coach Chot son, but i hope they will implement more motion, swing offense that Coach Tab implemented. No more DDO please even if its a Reyes again.

HOMEGROWNS

Jared Bahay
Lorenzo Competente
Andy Gemao
Basti Reyes
Kristian Porter
Lebron Nieto
Mikhail Romero

FIL FOREIGNS

Caelum Harris
Jayden Jones
Alex Konov
Zain Mahmood
Jacob Bayla

Our Team is almost equal in terms of number of Homegrowns and Fi Foreigns.
(Actually, Competente is Homegrown but trained is US for 2 years)

I think our Batang Gilas team can beat Kuwait. Japan is 50-50 depending on how our kids will defend, and if our shooting clicks

Japan have 3 Jap-For too in Williams, Rooney, and Apia

I am worried about our outside shooting both in 3pts and midrange. I am sure Konov will deliver, but hopefully others too.

Good luck to them. We never know, maybe one of them can possibly be potential US NCAA DIV 1 Player, and maybe nba prospect in 2-3 yrs from now

actually, DDO is also a type of motion offense as it is free-flowing and relatively unrestricted. DDO also uses player movement, often as a strategy to exploit the quickness of the offensive team or to neutralize a size advantage of the defense.

From what I observe it is mostly drive and kick. And it was only Blatche or Castro successful in driving. The other guys drive into no mans land and get stuck. And the looks after the kickouts are not that good unless you are Jimmy Alapag or a Jeff Chan or a Paul Lee.

Navarro had two "open" looks that were way off. But those were under duress with long defenders running to him. He is not good enough a driver to slash. As opposed to Tabs system where I observe there is always a 2 man game. Navarro can do a dribble hand off that might give him a better look. And if he does receive a kickout he will get a screen from say Baltazar. He will have a better look or a better driving space or let Balti shoot an open shot.

From what I saw in Tabs system you dont have to be a quick release shooter to get an open look. You dont have to be an advanced dribbler to get into the lane. Basically you dont have to have advanced offensive skills. As opposed to Chots DDO where other guys wait around for kickouts.

and that won't work in any elite team with an elite coach...sadly we don't had any elite shooters hence scouting/dissecting that Do or Die Offense are just a piece of cake to any of these coaches.

Is caelum Harris ranked? I checked ESPN but he’s not there. This site has him as a 2 star https://www.verbalcommits.com/players/caelum-harris

Tiebreaker times says he’s ranked 29 but I can’t find a source
https://tiebreakertimes.com.ph/tbt/fil-am-swingman-harris-obtains-ph-passport-at-16/204995

I still think he’s the best player on the team, he’s too versatile.

Nope, he isnt ranked in 247 sports or rivals

Yes, If I will bet who are the Top 4 players in the U16 Final 12 of Gilas. In order, it will be:

1. Caelum. Harris

2 Alex. Konov

3. Zain Mahmood

4. Jacob Bayla

(Just based on my own eyes watching some clips and highlights. Ofc, iba pa rin full game)

It is not intentional to be all fil foreigns overseas based. It just happened to be. I will say a homegrown player to be the best if he really is (like Kai during his time).

Hopefully, these 4 can deliver for us. And ofc, other kids too

Side Note About Konov Pala.

Someone said that he is not a discovery from SBP or Filam Nation Select.

He was referred and recommended by Jayden Jones.( i think they were teammates or at least know each other overseas)

Wow. Ty Jayden Jones.

harris and konov can play division 1 but some fil-foreign players can play in either UAAP or NCAA..

I think so too. Caelum and Konov are the two best Fil Foreigns of Gilas U16.

Then Between Bayla, Mahmood, and Jones.

I think Jones is the least talented or developed. Bayla and Mahmood Idk, maybe they can try US Ncaa Div 1 or 2. If failed, they are always welcome in Uaap. I dont think they will go to ncaa.

because this is the more accurate dribble drive offense:

you need five lengthy and athletic guys on the floor to fully implement the offense.
