But is he really any good? If not, this is not the first time a kid got in because his father rich or connected.

i dont know but i dont see anything wrong with just getting players based on size and future potential. Getting the best players instead of the players with good potential potional size and is backwards.

He could be a scrub but i bet theres not much natural wings at 6’2 for the u16

If I am not mistaken. BG U16 will already flight on June 8 (Wed)

Their tourney starts on June 12. Though, I think their game is the day after that.

Will the cut it to Final 15 or Final 12 only?

I guess it should be 15 in case of injuries?

But if not, I am excited who will be the Final 12.

PG: Gemao, Bahay

SG: Bayla, Jones

SF: Konov, Pre

PF: Caelum, Basti

C: Mahmood, Porter

is still my 10 Man rotation. I

Idk who will be the other 2. Maybe it could be Nieto and Romero. Lmao

He looks like 6’2- 6’3 natural 2 gaurd who plays hard isnt that skilled but thats really good size for under 16

That's for sure, the few highlights that's he's in that I've seen,he even mixed it up in the shaded lane with the big boys.

ok yun skills can be thought but persistence and grit cannot..

I have a question for you guys who are morr familiar in U16 tourney.

For 16 yrs old Kids. It is just normal that they are not that accurate from 3???
And more comfortable Driving and Slashing?

Yun kasi observation ko based on clips.

Literally only Konov is Pure Shooter. Others struggle to shoot threes, actually even midrange.

Maybe their pulse (pulso) are not that yet strong. Or maybe they are just not used to it.

They can make some shots naman but not consistent. (Outside of Konov)

Anyway, I think and hope they will compensate it with their skills and athleticism

I think they'll bring 14-15 players. Nieto should be cut, imo.

these are kids the shooting motion improves at certain age (Heading) talagang pure skill game and (system) is the way in youth competition

Yes, but not all are gifted with exceptional skills. There are those that are born with so much skills & there are those that born with very limited skills.

In Fairness, they are tuneuping against older and taller players.

Hopefully, that develoed and trained them better to play against Japan and Kuwait players in same age bracket.

Some things I will watch on:

1. If Konov shooting is transferabble in Fiba Tourney.

2. If we have U16 Players who can be a Legit SF 3 and D.

3. How good is our Kid's defense

Japan already has a final 12 line up. Watanabe is the tallest at 6'8. Williams and Kawashima are both around 6'7. Size-wise, I'd say we are almost even.

Jared Bahay 17 5'9
Jacob Bayla 16 6'4
Lorenzo Competente 17 6'2
Apl Gemao 15 6'0
Caelum Harris 17 6'5

Based on the Fiba Website, these are the only kid with Age and Height (Idk if barefoot or w/shoes) when u click their name here:

So Bayla, Konov, Basti, Caelum, Porter, and Zain are the only guys with enough size to man the forward positions. The rest (basically the other half of the roster) are 6'2" and under.

Final 12 line-up is out. Surprised on the non-inclusion of Veejay Pre..

http://sbp.ph/articles/sbp-announces-gilas-youth-roster-for-fiba-u16-asian-championship

Its official.

Wow. I agree in all selections except Nieto.

Pre should be in. And Nieto Out.

"reserves Joseph Pangilinan, Elijah Yusi, and Francis Veejay Pre, is scheduled to fly to Doha Tuesday night"

So Pre, Yusi, Pangilinan ar e the reserves

Joseph Pangilinan

PS: ALL AGE AND HEIGHT ARE BASED ON FIBA

Technically yeah. Though I dont think Japan have size bigger than us. They have Watanabe 6'8, two 6'6. And others I think are 6'3 below

I am no expert but just from looking at their arms they still are developing. The U16 team who reached the worlds had two good shooters in Jolo and Mike. Mike is big bodied so he already had a text book shootinh form. Well Jolo was Jolo. So I dont expect 16 yr olds to be consistent 3 pt shooters. From what I understand young players are not encouraged to take 3s if they still cant do the textbook form. It ruins their form later on.

Even Romero is "erratic". Oh well, sino ba naman tayo haha. Hopefully, decisions are FULLY based on a basketball standpoint.
