great read about the high level of basketball in the NBA, Scalabrine says it best

People don’t understand how a little bit nuts you have to be to sustain an NBA career. Especially when you’re not that talented. You have to be ready. You have to be up for the fight. You have to be like that every day. And if you’re not, you lose your livelihood.”

People don't understand that aside from those born with a combination of elite size, athleticism or bbiq... all the rest of the "average" nba players are obsessed about basketball.

Either that or they were trained by someone obsessed with basketball since they were very young kids.

It's like anything in life, to be really world-class elite at anything, you have to be a little crazy/non-normal.

In fairness to Kai, this whole experience of attending mini camps , training supervision from NBA trainers (I've worked his trainer Olie) and likely to play in a SL. Is really every ballers dream, and definitely will make Kai better .

Having said that let's not even talk about his future chances of making the.NBA , which Tony Ranzone was laughing inside with Qunito question. Ang layo ng mindset, one stupid comment after another from Qunito, which team.will fit best (my gosh the player.isnt even a SL roster yet) to he plays like Pozingis. Lol

Can we move the Kai stuff back to the Kai thread? The timeout would be pointless if the toxicity spreads to the other threads.

ok. boomer

like what IPC said you should bring that topic back to Kai's thread, anal.

Peezones aka IBN nostradamus hits again.lol Tall ball is back.haha it is an exciting time for bigs this year. Expect NBA teams to hoard more bigs this off season and the small ball era is already in its twilight years. Old school bball is back.haha

Jimmy Butler needs to channel his inner 2016 LeBron if he wants the Heat to win this series. 41 points, 16 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals, 3 blocks, 53 percent shooting, 4-8 from the three from LBJ.

For the trained eye, Jokoc , Embid , Giannis emergence is actually the evolution of "small ball" so to speak, Tall players playing with guard like skills. I mean to be totally honest .

Some people can't grasp the concept that small ball does not literally mean "small" players.

and Denver is the ideal small ball, just look at MPJ, Gordon and KCP, they have a tall 2-3-4 crew that could also bring the ball and have guard like skills (well except for MPJ who doesnt even pass)

GSW’s original Hamptons 5 (Green,Durant,Iggy, Klay, Curry) are by no means small as well, though Green is undersized as a center, his wingspan compensates for it

Chot on the other hand loves a 3 midget pg lineup with 1 wing and a center

Chot would definitely push for Draymond and Bam as our NP if we could afford them despite them standing 6'5 and 6'8.

Gentleman's sweep!

With Jokic winning a title, does this make him better than Dirk, Malone, Garnett, Durant, Giannis? He's definitely better than Barkley and Ewing now

No.

Gotta give way more respect to them Barkleys and Ewings and their Body of Work (15+years HighLevelSeasons of 20+ppg&10rpg career averages is tough)

He's on his way to cementing his legacy. I think 5 more of those MVP-worthy seasons (not necessarily win the award, just place inside the top-10 in the season MVP voting) in the next 8-10 years from the Serbian dude would be enough to put him in the NBA's 100 Greats and of course shall put him in equal footing with the other great bigs you mentioned or even edge them out.

Barkley and Ewing had the misfortune or running into the 90s Bulls possibly one of the greatest teams in sports.

How would this Nuggets team fare against first 3 peat and 2nd 3 peat Bulls team? With todays and 90s rules?

This victory of Jokic and the Nuggets makes me a bit conflicted. Yes they are good offensively and in team defense. But after years of downsizing and slimming down bigs to make them more switchable in defense, the Nuggets did it with one of the slowest starting NBA center around. It would be hard for other teams to replicate this because 1. Jokic is pretty good and 2. it took them years to find the best players to maximize and compensate for Jokic. But I see teams start to get taller and burlier centers just to match up. I think in the end Bam was just too small to stop Jokic.

It took them a healthy Jamal Murray. That's all. And it also goes without saying that every team has to find good role players and complimentary pieces to build around franchise players. Denver is a small market, had a difficult time to attract good free agents or trade for them, but they were patient and made it. Jokić's defense was superb in this playoffs, especially in the finals.

Jokic and Denver is a testament on how to really dominate perimeter oriented and small ball teams. They also proved that you could win games through scoring inside pts rather than relying on 3s. This Denver team would be intact next year and might possibly be multiple champions. This offseason would be a season of hoarding really big and lengthy centers. You cant stop jokic with mere 6'10 and below players even if they would be too athletic. Giannis' bucks was also built to play big and this has become a trend on some of the most successful teams this season.

In the end, skills and bball IQ will always find its ways to excel even if the player lacks athleticism. Hopefully, jokic's championship would open doors for Kai this year.
