My favorite part about the US being called a racist country in general is the fact that for 8 years we elected a minority of African descent as the leader of our government. When these European countries like Germany, France, England do the same let me know and we can talk.

Too be fair the current president spent those 8 years calling him a secret muslim out to destroy america. Balance.

Regardless how can you be such a racist country when like I said white people elected a minority for 2 terms to head our government. That just about ends all arguments right there.

While you guys are focused on that, I'm laughing that he suggested the US broke up Yugoslavia because we feared them in Basketball.

Honestly I couldn’t read that entire post if you paid me. I gave up real early on.

Can confirm that we are shipping arms to the underground New South Wales independence movement in case Australia eliminates us.

That doesn't undo the many racist policies in place. Or attitudes. Barack Obama didn't mean racism in the US was over. It showed just how little progress was actually made.

Of course you are 100% correct. My main beef is when other countries point their finger and call us racist I repeat the white majority elected a minority for two terms to lead our government. They should talk when they do likewise.

US is not the most racist country in the world, but it's the most visible. No one cares about the racism in say South Africa, but racism issues in US have far more reach and effect than any other country, hence the focus on there

And that’s all I was responding to. Because it’s silly to make that claim when Obama was president for 8 years. You can not be that inherently racist and also have that happen at the same time. Impossible.

Well, in USA, there is a very large african american and hispano population. So, it's not that USA is racist country, more that in USA there is race issue. Cities like Chikago, Detroit or NYC are very racial segregated.

Didn't he have the Australian flag as his country? Reminded me of that guy who just massacred all those people in New Zealand.

It doesn’t matter if it’s Australian or France in the quarterfinal, the US desperately needs Jayson Tatum in that game.
This team is not good enough to go up against the top couple of teams in this tournament without all of their top 4 or 5 guys and he’s clearly one of them.

He is key. Kemba and Mitchell are explosive scorers that are undersized and if matched up with stronger and bigger guards that play defense, then you need the offense to come from someone else. Middleton can't do it, Brown, Smart either. The only other guy capable to play with a ball in his hands and be effective is Tatum. So, I agree. He is the key to playing well. The offense vs Greece was torture to watch.

I agree. But I still think Middleton can be a lot better. He’s an excellent shooter and has a rare great mid range game. But for some reason he hasn’t shown any of it all summer.

Against Greece there was way too much over passing and driving to nowhere. I was screaming at the TV on numerous occasions when guys who should be shooting were passing up looks to worse shooters. And for God sake when driving it’s ok if you pull up and take the shot. They all can hit it.

If we don’t get it done I hope Popovich takes the hit he deserves. He had plenty of pieces and enough to make it work.
I haven’t moved off my position from the start of the tournament. Only a loss to Serbia would be understandable if not acceptable to me. Anything else is a massive failure.

I think that this Team USA has some grit'n'grind to them. Smart, Brown, Turner, Middleton hell even Mitchell and Kemba, those are players that have the fight in them. I don't think they care as much how they win or by how much. Popovic wants to suffocate teams on D, this is what I have seen so far, that is Plan A, B and C and then hope that playmakers make enough shots. I do believe that he was a bit freaked out by the Australia game and that just didn't like how defense looked in more open-floor type of offense. So, it has been slowed down, locked up a bit. He thinks that as long as he can keep teams on 40% shooting or so, that USA should win due to transition + off. reb. We will see if it works now in the 1/4, it will be a first true challenge for Team USA.

I would rather face Australia than France. Playing them twice in their building in the preparation schedule I think actually hurts them and helps us. We know what to expect and it’s hard to ask that Australian team to beat the US twice in such a short period of time.

I can also envision a scenario for Serbia similar to what happened to Spain in 2014. They blew away everyone with the closest margin being +16, and when they finally got into a dog fight close game they didn’t respond and were eliminated.
A close game with some late game execution could really benefit Serbia. I am hoping it doesn’t come against Spain and rather in an elimination scenario.
