So what ? Let's play that scenario out, he gets hurt, Milwaukee doesn't give him the extension and then when he can walk he obviously walks to his pick of 29 teams and Milwaukee look like a bunch of morons. Again a threat has to have some meat and realistic consequences behind it for it to mean anything. Giannis decided not to play this summer but fan boys will keep the excuses coming.

He relies on athleticism so a torn ACL or even worse an achilees would definitely stop teams from offering the same money.
I'm sure you understand as much but you don't know when to stop.

This isn't 1981 ? Acl, Achilles whatever. With the healing powers of a 22 year old world class athletic body and modern medical procedures yeah he pretty much would still write his own ticket. And I am sure you understand as much as well.

No, I don't because I'm not trying to act thick on purpose. Derrick Rose is a former MVP that now plays for the minimum, Jabari Parker's trade value has plummeted (and this came up plenty in talks about Bucks making a competitive offer for Irving) etc

All examples that are not comparable. Rose is playing for the minimum due to multiple injuries on both knees. Jabari's stock plummeted yes but he never remotely showed the potential that Giannis already has. He's shown that he can be one of the best players in the NBA already so if an injury occurred that would not be easily forgotten. Similarly Irving has been a walking injury dating back to college.

I am missing the point here are you making my argument. Sounds like you agree that there was a lot of inherent risk for Giannis in participating in this tournament. So I guess you agree once he didn't feel 100% he did the right thing by pulling out and protecting his future.

No, I'm arguing that the Bucks' mob practices of blackmail and direct threats to its players are to say the least despicable.

Of course I also think that Giannis shouldn't put up with any of that since he's bigger than the Bucks have ever been the past 30 years.

Yeah but Giannis should see through that stuff. The Bucks are bluffing with their threats because he holds all the cards.
Maybe it's not in his personality or nature but I am sure that if he approached them emphatically and explained the importance of national team play and that he would hold it against them if they didn't understand, they would kneel down and kiss his feet. Like you said they have been a nothing franchise for a long time and it seems like they hit the jackpot with him.

If I had to guess the Bucks probably looked at Giannis as a young, naive, inexperienced kid that they could manipulate or even blackmail emotionally. Definitely immoral but also good business on their part. Giannis' importance to the Bucks is comparable to wha Nowitzki was to Dallas and Gasol was to his teams. I would bet my life that their teams always recommended against playing. But those guys played when they wanted and skipped when they wanted. I think as Giannis matures just like those guys he will understand that ultimately it's his call.

Guys, it's Giannis' choice after all. Maybe he really felt soreness etc so he didn't want to risk it. Or maybe he caved in to Bucks' demands. In the end it all comes down to his decision. Prying and discussing it further doesn't make him attending next time more likely.

I think that Serbia will win (4 points), but I would not be surprised if it happens the opposite. Interestingly, Porzingis had a minor injury are he recovered completely?

We'll win tournament. Vasa Micic will be MVP with triple-double stats, Bircevic in the team of the tournament.

Serbia have by far the best centers in Europe. Missing Milutinov and Jokic will not be a problem. The real blowout is Teo, with Bogdan and Marjanovic he could make this tournament in walking to gold medal.

Ready to play, nothing serious

Not having Kalinic will be a pain for them too

It's tragic situation for Serbia. I can't remeber something like this.

Bogdanovic and Marjanovic must play like Kobe and Shaq to win medal.

Lower expectations can sometimes be a positive. Maybe Djordjevic can make some magic. For me these are the kinds of situations where a coach can show his worth.
