2017 EuroBasket Rosters

Teodosic gave a statement about the Eurobasket absence, basically saying "I thought the injury was less serious, the will is there but I have made the decision with the medical staff and the coach to not play, since I will not be able to give my all..." This is basically a short version of everything he said.

And it's a bunch of BULLSHIT if I have ever heard some. Teodosic has "supposedly" been carrying this injury since mid-season of Euroleague. He joined the NT when the camp started. He was present and practicing on Kopaonik (where most of the physical preparation is done before moving on to friendlies and tactical stuff). Suddenly when the first game was supposed to be played he is out, not practicing. There was no news of an injury sustained during training (it would've spread like plague since the NT is the focus of the sports media now). He was supposedly given a bit of rest because he was getting cramps in his calf.

Of course more games passed, and he didn't practice or play. Suddenly there was a Clippers doctor flying over to "help" with the injury (which is a non-sense if I ever heard one), in a case of a strained calf etc. Of course the news after 24hrs was, he is out.

He was out from the start but the federation, coach and officials made this retarded facade for the media and the public. They didn't want to allow for Teodosic to be dragged through the mud like Jokic was, before him Marjanovic in the previous camps. They wanted him around for 2 weeks with the guys to raise their morale, be around the team and then once he is out it will be because of an injury and noone can blame him. I call bullshit...

Teodosic absence changes predictions-Serbia was the first favorite to me- but still Serbia roster is capable of making lots of good things, even gold medal.
Just like last year in Fener, Bogdan will have to add some creativity to game organisation, like he did in preparation games. Frontcourt is compact and with Marjanovic one of the best in Europe
I agree that coaching stuff knew he will not play and preparation games went in that way from the start

Nba clubs are doing big pressure on players no doubt.Yes they cant say : we do not allow you to play ale...But they can 'strongly recommend' not to...All this Teodosics,Gianis,Sabonis and so on examples shows that .You dont need to be genius to understand .Players that never said 'no' to nt like Teo suddenly is saying sorry, but i cant.In our case Sabonis wanted to play very badly and he would do what ever it was needed even train by pacers programme in our training camp, but pacers 'strongly reccomended' not to :) Those 2 latest examples from Greece and Serbia training camp only shows that players themselfs wanted to be part of nt,but nba clubs did what ever it was needed pressuring until they gave up.

Money talks or we could call it - NBA career opportunity. If player wants to be in NT really bad, he will be there. Let's say Garbajosa, who was remembered here not long ago, even broke his NBA deal to be with NT in Olympics. Just cause Raptors recommended him to not play after injury. Some NBA newcomers didn't give a damn about that "practise to be ready for NBA debut" thing, just came and played for NT. But some refuses to do so. Maybe they feel insecure for NBA position, maybe don't give too much fck about NTs, or just seeks for money. It's in everyone's hands. Afterall, if I'm NT freak and some NBA club would force me to miss NT action, they could go the fck away, I wouldn't like to have anything incommon with such organisation

Zubac (LA Lakers) said it openly that his organization wanted him to work in LA on his game and strongly suggested him to stay there and decline the invite to NT.
so he did just that.

Duško Vujošević: "Do NBA clubs recommend players to not play for the national team in the summer? Yes they do, they say that to Pau Gasol in every year."

I'm sure we'll be seeing medical staff from european teams in NT camps in the following years recommending that this and that player should rest.
Basketball international competitions will end up like Olympic Games football most likely.

I don't think I remember a European team 'recommending' to a player to skip any tournament. That's NBA stuff.

Euroleague fanboys complaining about NBA not allowing their players to play in FIBA tournaments. How ironic.

It might be, but also it's post-Olympic Eurobasket. It's been like that for years now - big amount of stars or even ordinary players skipping it. Not much changed for World Champ. None really cares and wants to risk, what for? Some stars skipped a year, some couple, but majority were returning for pre-Olympic Eurobasket. It's a long lasting tradition that Olympics is the most prestigous bball tournament and is rated high among top players. As long as it stays like that I'm not worried. As long as FIBA won't try to ruin even this, they already did lot of damage with new system, tryin' everything desperately to promote their own product - World Cup. Only 2019, pre-Olympic World Cup, will show where everything goes

I was complaining about euroleague allowing players to play in FIBA tournaments, thank you very much.

NBA fanboys busting our balls with their "important" opinion of European basketball, on European basketball threads. How ironic.

Go to the airport to welcome Charalambopoulos instead.

So, with Teodosic gone, this guy is our new captain! :D :D :D

Don't you ever tire of being an apologist for this NBA league that doesn't give a damn for the fans (only the bottom line)? Yeah, yeah, I know, it's a business. Well I watch stock prices all day and the last thing I'll do is pay for more of the same masquerading under the guise of a sport.

But hey, if you want to pay to watch the workings of a business, who am I to suggest you do otherwise?

News flash to all the Europeans who seem confused here. The European players chose to play in the evil Nba they weren't abducted as prisoners of war and forced to join. And most importantly but is conveniently glossed over they chose not to participate in Eurobasket '17. Blame them that they don't value that tournament as much as you guys do. But of course the easy target is the Nba.

As you guys have pointed out the Nba actively attempts to prohibit the players from joining the National teams. So if you guys all know that the players do as well, so when they join the Nba they should understand what they are joining. But again it's easier to blame the big bad Nba than the actual culprits who you adore.
