I've always wanted Gilas cadets to play in the ABL, then a conference in the PBA. With Jones a Cup, MVP Camp and Euro training camp in between.

Gilas cadets would get slaughtered in the ABL tho since they don't have bigs (which will be trouble for the real qualifiers unless SBP and PBA compromise) and the ABL imports.

Gilas cadets plus 2 american bigs will be competitive in the abl maybe even contest the championship..

The Kaoshiung Truth team might have a slightly different agenda in joining the ABL, They are a missionary team, utilizing sports and athletics to spread the Word, sorta like Athletes in Action. I hope they are as competitive as they are religious.

ABL could use someone like Taiwanese descent Jeremy Lin, a world class baller with strong Christian faith.

They should tap LCC "the james yap of taiwan" to strengthen their lineup

At least their starters will be solid from the looks of it.
They have a 7'2 center which will make him the tallest player in the ABL.

7'2 James Tyler

The other two forwards are american imports so most likely solid. And the two guards (Wesley Hsu and Sabatino Chen)
have ever played in Jones Cup for Taiwan B.

Sabatino Chen has D-I experience. They also have a 6'7" Chilean-Taiwanese player in Carlos Andrade.

I wonder what team would represent Philippines this year. It was obvious, even from last year that a team of PBA has beens and D-League players were not enough. This year with the competition becoming more stiff, my opinion is nothing less than a legit PBA team to be competitive (Or the gilas cadets+imports).

if the ABS-CBN agreement will push through. expect a competitive PH Team on ABL.

hope so. Mighty sports comes to mind. Another Phil. club is considering playing in ABL and that is davao team (not the mx kings team)

its not difficult to setup a team in ABL for PH since franchise fee is waived :)

as per Spin.ph, a team from philippines has already committed to take part in the coming ninth season of the ABL — the Alab ng Pilipinas ballclub of player agents Charlie Dy and Dondon Monteverde. LBC is looking a possibility of participating in ABL as well.

This could work, especially since it's home base will be the provinces, Cebu, laguna, Davao etc. could also help develop hoops in those areas. They can actually draw a home crowd, as it will be the primary hoop show in town

When the ABL starts having regular games in the provinces with venues full of fans, that would be another sign the PBA is doing something wrong because they could barely get anybody in for its All Star Games

Just a thought. Why not these two leagues merge? ABL and PBA. Why not?

Matatanda na kasi nasa PBA board. Tama ba?

The board are too old. They need to think now to save the PBA. Ginebra can't save them now.

ABL-PBA merger me thinks is not a bad idea.

The problem is ABL talent is at dleague level. But lets see how ABSCBN can build up the hype on ABL
