Canada announced its team for the Women's tournament (20-24 August).

It's called Senior-B NT (aka Developmental NT), and is quite a tall and young roster, made entirely by NCAA players except one.

4 Dakota Whyte, Guard - 5'8" - Wisconsin, 2014-15 Jr
5 Karly Roser, Guard - 5'10" - Northwestern, Sr
6 Korissa Williams, Guard - 5'9", plays in CIS (CAN), Sr
7 Sami Hill, Guard - 5'10" - Virginia Tech, Soph
8 Jamie Weisner, Guard - 5'9" - Oregon State, Jr (she was an All-Tournament at the 2013 U19 WC, topping CAN in scoring with 17ppg)
9 Saicha Grant-Allen, Forward - 6'5" - Dayton, Soph
10 Adut Bulgak, Fw - 6'3" - Florida State, Jr (listed at 6-4, she joins FSU after 2 years in Juco, where she was named PoY last season)
11 Quinn Dornstauder, Centre - 6'4" - Arizona State, Soph
12 Emily Potter, Centre - 6'5" - Utah, Soph
13 Emma Wolfram, Centre - 6'5" - Gonzaga, RS Fr
14 Audrey-Ann Caron-Goudreau, Forward - 6'3" - Vanderbilt, Fr
15 Khaleann Caron-Goudreau, Forward - 6'3" - Vanderbilt, Fr
21 Meg Wilson, Forward - 6'2" - Simon Fraser Univ, Jr

Don't know if #21 Wilson is an alternate.

Surprising result but chemistry issues really hurts South Korea's world cup bound team as this is their first official friendly since being formed in June. While Denso Iris' big 3 of Yuri, Chisa and Yukine were on target.

Canada B-team beat one of the two Chinese Taipei teams (playing as ROC White) 70-63.
Strong start of Canadians, but Chinese women rallied back in Q4 coming to -2 just to end scoreless in the last minutes.
Emily Potter and Karly Roser led Canada with 12 pts, followed by Jamie Weisner and Sami Hill with 10. Adut Bulgak had 8 reb and 2 bs (+ 8 pts).
Yu-Chun Wei topped the local team with 15.

Korea women beat an unknown (to me) USA Savage team 67-56, in a not fully convincing performance.
Best scorer for Korean side Youn-Joo Kim (who played almost the entire game) with 24 pts on 8/25 FG3 and 0/5 FG2 shooting. Ji-Su Park added 12 pts and 11 reb, Bo-Ram Hong 11 pts.
This "Savage USA", probably a semi-pro team, is weak, has played just in 7 (!) so far and yesterday lost by -30 vs Chinese Taipei NT.
In today's game with Korea Christina Dewitt (who played a couple of seasons at North Carolina years ago and then appeared also in Europe) was by far the best from the American team with 20 and 14 reb.

In another game Canada B-Team (a true "Developmental Team" as all players are just students) earned its 2nd win beating Japan Denso Iris 79-58 and Taipei NT (ROC-Blue) won over Taipei B-Team (ROC White) 81-61.

In Women's tournament just Canada remains undefeated so far.
Canada's collegians beat today Korea NT 67-57, with 17 points of Emily Potter, while Ji-Su Park contributed with the same score for KOR. The taller Canadian team outrebounded Korea 43-22.
Previously unbeaten Chinese Taipei NT lost to Japan Denso Iris 78-71 and the second Chinese Taipei team routed Savage USA 106-71.

South Korea 61 - 48 Chinese Taipei B

Park Ji-Su 19points and 12rebounds

In today's top game, Canada-B (as it's called by Can Federation) topped Chinese Taipei NT 73-70, staying undefeated.
Trailing by -11 with less than 3' remaining, local team had a strong comeback with Chien-Hui Hsu scoring 9 of her total 12 pts, but it wasn't enough.
Great game of Canadian Adut Bulgak (incoming Jr at Florida State) who scored 19 pts (on 9/11 shooting, including a three) and collected 15 reb, Yi-Feng Chen was high for Chinese team with 16 (8/13), adding 6 ast and 7 stls.

Canada-B wins the WJ Cup for Women, beating Savage USA in the last game and finishing with unblemished record (5-0). After initially struggling, Canadian students had a strong 2nd half (51-25) cruising to a clear triumph. Five Canadian players scored in double digits.

Korea ends on a good note, winning a hard fought game vs Chinese Taipei NT 79-73. A-Ran Hong (21 pts) and Ji-Su Park (19+11 reb) topped Korea, while Chun-Yi Liu scored 20 for the hosts.

Japan Denso Iris, beating Chinese Taipei-B 80-70, takes the second place, preceeding Korea. The two Chinese Taipei teams finish 4th and 5th and winless Savage USA ends at last plaace.

Where'd they find Youn-Joo Kim (South Korea, #5)? In a beauty contest? She is an absolute distraction to the game as the cameramen were trained on her at all times. Just mesmerizing...

In Asia - ex-China - there's never been a player of the size and ability of Ji-Su Park (she's not even 16 and has grown to 6'5" with good hands and a great feel for the game). Natural progression says she'll likely top out at above 2m and become a dominating inside force for quite some time to come. Go for it, J-Su Park. The sky is your limit!

Agree, and Youn-Joo Kim also contributed as 2nd best scorer for Korea (behind young phenom Ji-Su Park).

It was announced as Canada B Team, but honestly, it`s maybe a E or F Team, if not even lower.
Look at the Girls, they are Young, College Players, with no big impoirtance in their College Teams and This Team was dominating the whole William Jones Cup??
It`s a blame for Taiwan and also for Denso to lose against them.

It`s also a big blame for Taiwan A National Team not to win this Cup (again).
If it would be real Canada "B" or "C" Team, no complaining, but against such a youth Team, it`s desastrous.

One should also see the fact, that TAIWAN B (2013 at the University Game in Kazan) was defeating such a Canadian Team (with college Players, some of them were also at the WJC).

Calling it Canada-B Senior team (as officially announced by Canada Basketball Federation) is in fact a non-sense, this is -as previuosly underlined also from my side- a developmental collegian team, and even a young one, considering that several players are in their first or second college season.

All that said, though it has proved too be a surprise winning the WJCup, this team is imo quite fine, has class-players from previous U19 WC team who look promising (all except one are in NCAA) and above all at WJCup could display a huge frontline (5 players >1.91).
I think this is a better team than the 2013 WUG's, that was missing several NCAA stars, see also my post http://www.interbasket.net/forums/s...iversity-Games&p=818677&viewfull=1#post818677, and had just a couple of really good players, team's high-scorer Miah-Marie Langlois (now with the NT) and Korissa Williams (the only member who has played in the WJCup team).
