2014 5th FIBA Asia Cup [Wuhan, China, Jul 11-19]

Japan is getting stifled in this third quarter. Iranian bigs fighting for floor space even when the Takeuchis are setting a screen way out of the paint. Good semi-zone by Iran.

Every Japanese player has seen PT so far except for Kanamaru, who was projected to start. It seems true that Hasegawa ain't impressed by volume shooters or scorers and he likes players who pass first. See Chiba's Ryumo Ono.

So we will see how deep is Japans guards in this tournament as we won't see much of Kanamaru..

Guards are not the problem as half of the team are guards even without Naoto Tsuji. Bigmen, that will be a question for the later games as Japan only has three rotation bigs with Harimoto filling up minutes at four. At this stage, Hasegawa is keeping the minutes of Joji rather low while Ota and Kosuke are the oxes at work.

Congratulations to Iran for winning this one. Wasn't a pretty game and was rather physical but the Japanese did not fold up, but just got out-muscled and out-worked by guys like Haddadi and Mashayekhi. Japan did have a good showing despite being stopped by Iran in the third. This is Iran that digs deep and fights in the trenches. Hasegawa is a motivator and disciplinarian before a tactician.

19-0 unanswered points by China against Indonesia with 5 mins. remaining in the 1st. Wingspan and lateral movement really shading the court against Indonesia.

End of 1st Q: China 34 Indonesia 01

I like the discipline and pre-game orientation that coach Wang Huaiyu told the players. Play defense regardless of the opposition and the young players responded by being agile and challenging shots. Good mentality to start this tournament. If it were not for Irman's FT, INA would have been held scoreless. Scoring drought for pretty much 9 minutes.

Didn't like the game, Iran was too slow and lazy, they only improved the defense in 2nd half to win the game. I think Japan had only 1 FG in 15 minutes of 2nd half before starting to shot some crazy 3 pointers near the end of the game.

It was their first game after a while, still nice to see "Team Melli" once again. I think they will play better in next games. good to see Yakhchali as our topscorer today. he is only 18 and already a starter in NT. Mashayekhi also played important role in 4th quarter. but seriously Akbari is waste of time, I can't understand why Memi brought him here, he is neither good or young ! Zangeneh is also still far away from national team level, they should bring Sedighi instead of him ! didn't see anything special from Lalehzadeh .

Hi, anyone can post here Philippines roster for Asia Cup? What you expect from match against Taipei today?

Hello guys i am confious with this guy on the Taiwan bench?

Japan starting 5: Takeuchi twins, Kikuchi, Tanaka and Ishizaki.

Kanamaru was DNP against Iran due to flu like symptoms. We'll see if he plays today.

End of 1st half: Japan leads India 38-24. Close game after 1st quarter and with Kosuke Takeuchi in foul trouble, Joji Takeuchi shouldered the team by leveraging his role of an active four screener and he scored 9 points in this period.

Japan wins against India 75-52. Japanese outscored the Indians in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th while maintaining the continuity of Hasegawa's screen and roll offense.

Good win but bad game for GILAS against Chinese Taipei today.

maybe many players are first timers in international competition and others played a grueling PBA season
specially for Paul Dalistan Lee and Beau Belga.

Washington treys also didnt connect.

Any live stream links

i want to see the game of CHINA and IRAN

here's a link to the china iran game

iran with a 3 pt lead at the half. this china team as usual has great height. there's a lot of youngsters but they're very scrappy and giving the iranians a lot of pressure. iran is missing kamrani and samad nikah in this game, no creators for them so hadadi can't get his easy touches in the paint.

Both teams suck in terms of fundamentals, it's almost an embarrassment for Asia. Both teams are shooting less than 10% from the 3? Certainly not a result of good defense. Iran also has many young players. Haddadi is almost the only star in the game and has produced the stats to prove it, but his lack of mobility is also a reason of many Iran turnovers (not always his fault).

For China I'm pleased with the efforts and that's the only thing that is really expected of them.
