2010 World Cup Qualifications (Europe)

Sweet draw for BG, we've got our chances for the second spot and a play-off game. Nice draw for Scotland as well, they won't have to travel far for any of their games except for the one at Skopije. England-Croatia yet again together. That should be a classic by then. Serbia-Lith will be sweet too :D

Damn it, how come we never get England or Holand? My wish for this draw was not to get Balkan countries. And what do you know - we get Romania and Serbia  Fourth place as a proof for the pre-draw pot will be good result, I guess. Though there are miracles happening in this world...

Groups 2, 3 and 4 look like a piece of cake for the favorites.

I was hoping for the group with Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro and BiH. :D

Few years ago when we were on EC and WC I'd say this group we are having today is easy, but not anymore. Slovenia sucks in football.

I can say we cannot be 3rd and out of playoff in this group. Belgium is an easy opponent to draw from the 3rd level. Spain can finish top with 10/10 win if they beat us in both 2 games.. We can do also 8/8. The matches btw Spain and Turkey will decide the first place. %20 chance for us I think..
We are again with Bosnia.. And I am curiously waiting for the Armenia matches... Though i d prefer another country to play cos of the fair play of football... I cant stand anymore the politic problems with our neighbours...Every country have some problems with their neighbours but if it is Turkey (because of the Geopolitic importance of Turkey) it becomes bigger and bigger.

Philip pls change your avatar. It looks disgusting... Is it too hard to find a good avatar?? Put a hot girl, thats it...

Apparently and easy group for Spain. All games should be quite easy (except the turkish ones).
Belgium and Bosnia are medium-level teams, if they improve a little they could give some competition in the group and make things interesting. Anyway i miss a San Marino/Feroe Islands/Luxembourg team in the group. :)

Lol. Greece couldn't get an easier group.:D

U r right. But that's the only danger. All games will b against teams that will b the underdogs and play defensively. Attacking is not our game though. I hope we won't need an injury time goal 2 beat Moldova this time.:)
In the other groups, I'm curious 2 c what happens between Croatia and England. I bet England would love 2 send Croatia out of the playoffs and return the favour, but I don't think that will happen.:D

Even FIFA is not THAT stupid...

I think the decay of football in Slovenia is a side-effect of Slovenian independence and the remotion from the Yugo football school...

Nowadays the only Slovenian footballer i know is Acimovic.
Could be. We had quite some good football players in the past such as Zahovič, Pavlin, Knavs, coach Katanec, Novak and so on... our golden generation (qualified both for World Championship and European Championship, that was quite an achievement for a country with population of 1.900.000). :)

Ačimovič stopped playing for the National Team few months ago. We have some talents, but no real leader in the team like they were Zahovič and Pavlin.

Romania is also good NT. They are playing great football, especially when they are playing in Bucharest.

of course :D
the biggest pleasure is winning against one of the ex-Yu republics... not that we would stand many chances, but if that occured :D ...that'd be fun

i am not any expert on football, but imho the whole area suffered from lack of that league a lot, just as in basketball, top players production slowed down a lot after 91, Croatia is getting saved by Dinamo and Hajduk, Serbia by Partizan and Crvena Zvezda, while the rest of ex-yu failed to establish even such a mediocre clubs (from european perspective).
as for slovenian football, as far as my neighbour claimed (played for NT for a while) it was run by some strange managers that filled the whole league with incompetent 2nd grade players from ex-yu...

Slovenian football is dead right now and will remain the same untill Olimpija-Maribor rivalry starts again (or football NT gets to euro)... just as it was the case with Hockey (Olimpija-Jesenice) untill the last years, still is in handball (Celje-Prule Lj.) and just as in bball Olimpija lacks a rival at the moment.

Found it !!

Lithuania are showing great performance. Two games, two wins, goal difference 5:0.

Senhor José Júlio de Carvalho Peyroteo Martins Couceiro is making some magic with our team.

He sure is. But he's not that loved here :p He descends from a lineage of football dedicated people btw.

Slovenia made a good start into qualifications. We start with a draw against Poland (1:1) in Wroclaw (that penal given to poor Polish NT was pure bullshit!) and with a win at our place against Slovakia with 2:1.

Both were quite good games and all players surprised me... they showed some fighting spirit!

Domenech kept his place last night!

2-1 for france^^ After they got badly injured against Austria!
