From wikipedia: His father, now deceased, was African-American and his mother is Irish American.

But there's always been a white guy, so this team should be first indeed.
2008:Kidd
2006:Hinrich, Brad Miller
2004:Boozer
2002:LaFrentz
2000:Kidd
1998:Brad Miller

Maybe there were more, but there has been at least 1. So that is interesting.

a question for our American friends

Iti is not a racist question .
is this the first time in USA team that all players are Afroamericans?
How come?
Did someone complain about this ?

i repeat it son't a racist question (i took the idea from FIBA fan page but i thought here is a better place to ask)

Why would someone complain?

Kevin Love is white.

yes... if you consider that Kidd is white... i always thought he was african-american.

His father is (was) African-american, his mother is (was) Irish so he's mixed.

Carlos Boozer? Always considered him African-american.

Yeah I forgot Kevin Love... so they still have a white guy. I don't know the players roots, but from the looks Kidd is white for me. Probably your right about Boozer, I only know that he is born in Germany, maybe that's why I took him as a white guy.

Mmmm Carlos Boozer is mixture between black and with, mulato...look a like puertorrican, cuban or maybe brazilian if you ask me.

In the U.S., unless you are all white, you are considered black. So,despite appearances, Kidd and Boozer are considered black. Having all-black national teams has become quite common, although not all Americans are happy about it.

wow. .i didn't know that Philippines is the only asian country to host the FIBA world champs aside from japan(turkey is considered a European country).and we are also the ONLY Asian team to win a bronze medal. .:D

I guess the one-drop rule still rules

Depends more on where you live really. In most major cities "mixed" is a perfectly fine thing to identify as.

Though it is true, typically if you're mixed you're more likely to identify as black. It's why African Americans can vary in skin tone from near white to very dark.

Still the people that get upset with that are extremely few in number, or at least not willing to say so publicly, and I'd argue that most of them aren't even basketball fans.

in 98 and 02 it was practically Serbia with 2/3 Montenegrin players on the bench.

Anyways Yugoslavia are the best Basketball team in the history of the game, whatever anyone says!!!!

So far, no Asian team has replicated or duplicated the success of Philippine Basketball Team's bronze medal finish. Hopefully the Asian teams will perform well this WC.

you know if we decide to ignore all those Olympic championships as well :p

anyway serbia is granted those two titles anyway by FIBA.

But Yugoslavia is only granted the 3 before that.

Deron Williams and Shane Battier are two other recent US players with mixed-race parents.
