Is Mavrokefalidis out too?Vasilopoulos is out of the Greek team. Over the last few years he is suffering from injury and his performance does reflect that.

Ouch, ouch, ouch. What is so important to Faris that he can't play for the NT? Turk and Neimneh will be missed. I think El Khatib will be there.for lebanon omar turk (SG) is injured he won't play
mazen mneimneh (SF) is injured too
daniel faris (PF) won't join personnal resons
fadi el khatib(G/F) lebanon premium player and captain may miss the world championships(not sure) because of injury.hope he will recover soon

That's really disappointing. Personally, I think he (or any player) could impress more people by playing in the WC than an NBA Summer League team.Australia will be without Nathan Jawai from the Minnesota Timberwolves...
LAS VEGAS -- Amare Stoudemire's availability for Team USA was thrown into doubt Monday night after questions were raised over whether his contract with the New York Knicks could be insured to allow him to play in a FIBA competition, sources told ESPN.com.
On the other hand he confirmed his interest to take part in the 2011 European Championships, where he wants to help the German team top qualify for the Olympics 2012.

Thanks for posting this, Hot Spot. That is very disappointing. Dirk has consistently been one of the best NBA players when it comes to international tournaments. He has constantly (and respectfully) defied Mark Cuban's idiotic stance toward international competition. It's good that he'll play in the EC...but it doesn't get much bigger than the World Championships. Disappointing news. Now Dirk Nowitzki has joined the big list of absentees, too: He declared on Tuesday, that he will not go to Turkey. After signing a new deal with the Dallas Mavericks he need time to concentrate for 100 percent for the new NBA season with the completely renovated Mavericks team.

Can someone make a full list of all absentees so far? Thanks.
Yes, yes, I know, Franz. But it's the freakin' World Championship of basketball. It should be as important as the Olympics. For me, it is.It's pretty clear that Nowitzki is more concerned with the Olympics than the World Championship. Just read what he says. Not much different than what other international stars have said so far.
yes, but apparently the game of basketball is being played for rich owners and not for the fans who are actually paying for all that..Yes, yes, I know, Franz. But it's the freakin' World Championship of basketball. It should be as important as the Olympics. For me, it is.
