Jasikevičius is officially out too. Looks like Lithuania won't have any high quality guards once again (Kaukėnas is questionable too, Šiškauskas definitely out), let's just hope that Kemzūra injects some young talent instead of Delininkaitis, Lukauskis and similar players. On the other hand, the return of Macas, if he's ready, would be cool.

Looks like? One quality guard is out. We still have 3. Let see how many of them will come.

Well, actually both Kaukėnas (already) and Gecevičius (still) aren't at their peak. At least, they're not what we used to have, when we were getting medals in EC and the Olympics. Macijauskas hasn't played for a very long time, so it's questionable if he'll even be good enough to make it to the final roster. Pocius is young and he should probably be taken to the NT, but he's not ready to be a big part of it. How's Seibutis doing, btw? Haven't heard much about him for some time.

Very true! Baby Araújo only used to be usefull for Brazilian NT to hurt some opponents... :D

Puerto Rico is still question mark for me. They've got a few veterans still on their team (pure speculation, but I don't think Arroyo is going) and some great young players, like Barea, Diaz, and Sanchez.

Arroyo is confirmed. I am actually very happy with the team that most likely will be picked. Best team we ve had in years. Some good additions and improved players. I think we will give some surprises.

Dwayne Wade is out. USA looking pretty thin right now. I think only Derron Williams, Chris Paul, and Bosh haven't expressed not playing.

Papaloukas is out

Papaloukas is out

Papaloukas will not play in WC2010.

I doubt Paul and Bosh plays, Paul seems to still be recovering from his knee injury and Bosh probably wants to focus on his new team.

Also, Kosta Koufos is 100% out (as Rik noted on the first page of this topic).
Koufos to Pass on World Championship - June 25, 2010, by Lorem Ipsum, Salt Lake Tribune

Jazz center Kosta Koufos will not play this summer with the Greek national team in preparations and games for the FIBA world championships in Turkey, according to the Cleveland-based agency Mark Termini and Associates, Inc.

“After consultation with the Greek Basketball Federation, including assistant coach Giannis Sfairopoulos and federation counsel George Koniaris, we have mutually agreed that Kosta will respectfully decline his invitation for this summer and focus solely on his commitment to the Utah Jazz summer-league team and his preparation for next season,” Koufos’ agency said.

“Kosta has undertaken an almost continuous domestic and international basketball playing schedule over the past 36 months, and the decision to forego international play this summer will allow him to better continue his improvement as an NBA player.

Kosta, his family, the Greek Basketball Federation, and his MTA agency look forward to his very important participation with the Greek national team in future years.”

Koufos has been training in his hometown of Canton, Ohio, since the end of the Jazz’s season.

He will report to Orlando, Fla., for summer league Tuesday.

¿Quién no está?

Alan Anderson. El ya ex-jugador del Maccabi Tel Aviv, con pasaporte croata, se declaró dispuesto a ir a Turquía con su selección "adoptiva", pero su ofrecimiento ha caído en saco roto.

I have to react on this qoute from ACB site and I would do there if I knew Spanish as this made me very mad  This is offensive to me and our NT:mad:

First Anderson doesn't have Croatian passport, secend he can't be Croatian absence because he is American, not Croat. He did ofer him self to play for us but we turned him down. I'd like him and admire him, but when he played for Cibona. He was beast and fan favorite, but I don't wannt him in Croatia NT. We have what we have, what we don't have we don't have. If we going to be last with it, fine! And I hope in future our federation won't call any American. To the author one more time: Anderson is not Croatian absence because he is not Croat, he is American! He can be only American absence or Spanish if the guy likes

If we will have asentees It will be Croats, most likley Kasun who won't play for NT anymore, and probabley Barac and Rozic because injuries

Kaukėnas is officially out, Petravičius probably won't play too, K. Lavrinovic is questionable. I really hope Kemzūra does the right thing and takes all the young guys to the NT.

Wow. That's not good for Lithuania. If Lavrinovic drops out, Lithuania will be in trouble again.

I don't see Lithuania recovering anytime soon. I see a lot of teams in Europe overtaking them by next year such as Croatia, France, and Germany.

Sad times for Lithuania basketball.
