2010 Korean NT

Brian Kim?

Brian Kim?

What about Kim Hyo-Bum aka Brian Kim? Has he lived up to expectations and has he ever been considered for the national team?

Choi Jin-Soo still not good enough to make the NT? what kind of training has been receiving at Maryland?

anyways, sounds like South Korea will be have those unofficial scrimmages in Las Vegas just like Japan did.

It would be cool to see Japan, South Korea, Philippines, and China all just officially compete in the NBA Summer League. They need to face more competition from the USA :D

Next stop after the USA Training and Conditioning Camp could be the Fiba Asia Stankovic Cup 2010

The Korean Times reported that South Korean National Men's Basketball Team have finished their conditioning camp. The South Korean Team defeated the San Antonio Spurs Summer League Team 63-58 and held two scrimmages against a selection of NBDL Players.

It is reported that guard Kang Byung Hyun and forward Oh Sakeon had been invited by the San Antonio Spurs Assistant coaches Chad Forcier and Chip Engelland to have a tryout on next year's Summer League, citing: "I don't see why not, as players from Taiwan and Japan have been trying out on recent years". said Forcier.

Kim Min-Soo not in the lineup? That's quite a surprise. I always thought he was one of the better one-on-one players on the South Korea lineup last year.

Sorry for the late reply as my friend on South Korea has recently opened his yahoomail. Anyways, a friend had this snippets quote on Yoo Jae Hak:

"Kim was excluded because he seemed not to be ready yet," the head coach said on not taking 28-year-old to the Las Vegas practice.

It is reported that Kim Min-Soo
just recovered from illness with just a week before the South Korean Team were to leave for the US for training camp and scrimmages.

While Choi Jin-Soo was cut before the team's departure to the US as Yoo Jae-Hak said:

"I feel sorry for Choi as he has a good physique at 2.04 meters, and plays hard. However he lacks an understanding of the game as a forward, who unlike from a center, needs to grasp the idea of tactics,""As he is young, building a college career here would help him to adapt to Korean basketball," the head coach added.

Still the final 15 roster will be named on September and all the players excluded still have the chance to be named if they get Yoo Jae-Hak's nod.

What about Kim Hyo-Bum aka Brian Kim? Has he lived up to expectations and has he ever been considered for the national team?

In 2009, Kim Hyo-Bum was not considered for the NT. This year, Yoo Jae-Hak could not get a 100% commitment to him as Kim Hyo-Bum is a free agent after helping Ulsan Mobis Phoebus to the KBL Championship. It seems Kim Hyo-Bum wanted to negotiate contracts first.

will the koreans will take part in this year's stankovic cup??
or we will see them only at the asian games??

*i could really wish right now* that smart gilas should join the summer league or at least have a scrimmages against NBA summer league teams. .:D

The South Korean National Team is set to scrimmage with the FIBA World Championship Bound Angolan National Team on Friday (US Time)

So far, the South Korean National Basketball team has been playing closed door scrimmages after the San Antonio Spurs Summer League Squad match-up.

2 scrimmages with NBDL selection Team on Las Vegas, (Closed Door)

1 scrimmage with UNLV Running Rebels (Closed Door)

1 scrimmage with Nevada Wolf Pack (Closed Door)

1 scrimmage with Angolan National Team (Closed Door)

It is reported that the next scrimmage will be with the California Golden Bears Basketball Team. I'm guessing closed door too.

I guess South Korea is serious on the Asian Games buildup as they don't want to be scouted.

I heard that the South Korean National Team training in the USA will be on the Joe Abunassar Camp and is expecting 3 new personnel to join the team and is set to scrimmage with a selection team lead by Juan Dixon and Glen Davis.

I think the following:

Kim Min-Soo
As he has fully recovered from illness and did some drills with the Korean Basketball Developmental Camp held jointly by the NBA and KBL 2 weeks ago.

Ha Seung-Jin
KCC Egis is sending him to the US for Individual Training after all.

3rd one I'm not sure, could be Lee Dong Jun if he is already with the team after flying back to Korea post-San Antonio Spurs scrimmage for family reasons. Not really sure on the above players as Korean Basketball news are hard to track down. My sources are Korean friends on California who follow the team through news feeds and social networks.

Im sorry, it was a closed door scrimmage after all and the score was not disclosed. I'm guessing the South Korean NT are not to keen on the results of the game or being scouted.

But what I have heard is that they are practicing some fluid passing game in offense against those teams.

We must be prepared what the SoKor NT is doing. They're still one of the most dangerous teams in Asia. Their killer perimeter shooting is still scary.
