Group A
Canada
Costa Rica
Chile
Mexico

Group B
USA
Argentina
Puerto Rico
Brazil

Interesting draw as at least one of Costa Rica/Chile/Mexico will qualify for the U19 worlds. Chile presumably earned the favorable group by finishing second at the South American U17 last year.

FIBA-Americas website has team news, USA squad has not been finalized yet:
http://www.fibaamericas.com/torneos1_us.asp?t=DGIMMAYECK

US team:

The 12-player roster includes: Diamond DeShields (Norcross H.S./Norcross, Ga.); Stefanie Dolson (Minisink Valley H.S./Port Jervis, N.Y.); Reshanda Gray (Washington Prep H.S./Los Angeles, Calif.); Cassie Harberts (San Clemente H.S./San Clemente, Calif.); Bria Hartley (North Babylon H.S./North Babylon, N.Y.); Malina Howard (Twinsburg H.S./Twinsburg, Ohio); Alexis Jones (MacArthur H.S./Irving, Texas); Allyson Malott (Madison H.S./Middletown, Ohio); Kayla McBride (Villa Maria Academy/Erie, Pa.); Chiney Ogwumike (Cy-Fair H.S./Cypress, Texas); Cassie Peoples (Cy-Fair H.S./Houston, Texas) and Theresa Plaisance (Vandebilt Catholic H.S./Marrero, La.).

No close games today:

Canada 77 Mexico 31
Chile 75 Costa Rica 53
Brazil 81 Puerto Rico 35
USA 91 Argentina 32

At least there was one close game on day 2:

Canada 66 Chile 33
Mexico 78 Costa Rica 40
Argentina 68 Puerto Rico 60
USA 89 Brazil 46

Since Chile is hosting the U19 WC, the fifth place team qualifies if Chile finishes in the top four. Mexico can qualify if they beat Chile tomorrow, as will the Argentina/Brazil winner.

Hard to believe that Brazil used to beat the US at these tournaments.

Final day of the group stage--the second-place deciders did not disappoint, while the USA and Canada continued to dominate.

Canada 74 Costa Rica 18
Chile 65 Mexico 63
Brazil 64 Argentina 61
USA 108 Puerto Rico 44

Mexico was just five minutes away from qualifying for the WC with a 58-52 lead but Chile came back to win. Underdogs Argentina jumped to a 25-8 lead against Brazil, but Brazil rallied in the second quarter, and after a tight game in the second half pulled ahead in the final minutes.

Argentina 86 Costa Rica 34
Mexico 73 Puerto Rico 55

Brazil 50 Canada 49
USA 98 Chile 28

Argentina face Mexico for the last spot in the WC. Brazil outscored Canada 22-9 in the fourth quarter to pull the upset in the first semifinal.

7th Place: Puerto Rico 71 Costa Rica 41
5th Place: Argentina 64 Mexico 51
3rd Place: Canada 81 Chile 42
Championship: USA 81 Brazil 38
