Puerto Rico vs Argentina scrimmage

Thank You JGX

Puerto Rico and Argentina also finalized yesterday the first of two games in preparation for FIBA Americas.

Puerto Rico won it 72-71 on a last second three pointer by Joel Quiñones.

Argentina won the first half 41-31.

Angel Matías was the best scorer of the game with 21 points, followed by Rasham Suarez with 11 and Dejuan Marrero with 10.

For Argentina, Paredes scored 15, Fernando Podesta 13, and Patricio Garino finished with 11.

Thanks for the info Salsa. It seems that we have a good second half, but to have a real chance in the tournament, we have to play good the forty minutes of game.

anybody knows the score of the scrimmage game between Mexico and Uruguay played on June 25th or 24th in San Antonio ?

thanks

Brazil 78 x 53 Puerto Rico

Luca ''Bebê'' Nogueira(2,12 -C - 17 years-old) with 20pts 12boards 8blocks 1ast 1steal, was the best player on the brazilian side.

Just a reminder that these are televised (mediocre video quality) on the FIBA-Americas website. Argentina handling Mexico 35-12 at halftime.

Its better watch it even in mediocre video than not watch in it at all.

US over the USVI 35-8 after the first quarter. Total mismatch in the paint. Looks like they are using a rectangular lane, are the FIBA rule changes already in effect for youth competitions?

US wins 131-63. Unlike most huge blowouts, the Virgin Islands didn't have a ton of turnovers, but the US killed them inside. Nine players scored in double figures.

All the NBA scouts buzzing about Brazilian Lucas Nogueira. Like really buzzing. Had 20 pts, 12 rbs and 8 blocks. Already glad I came.

This was Jonathan Givony's quote from twitter

Canada 100 Puerto Rico 83
Brazil 71 Uruguay 64
Argentina 82 Virgin Islands 50
USA 114 Mexico 38

US was up 57-11 with 3 minutes left in the first half. Mexico outhustled them for much of the second half but then the US scored the last 18 points of the game.

Big, big victories against uruguay (people say that Ivan/Calfani/Alvarez is a better generation than Batista/Osimani/Garcia Morales) and Canada.

Gotta love Raulzinho this afternoon, with 34 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists (10/14 from FG and 10/10 FT).

Lucas was also impressive with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 6 blocks. I also liked Felipe Taddei.

Brazil has arguably the best basketball program in the Americas outside of the USA right now.

Watch out for them

Franz, I dont agree with you, the best basketball program outside the USA in America right now is in Argentina.

Brazil 83 Canada 78
Uruguay 67 Puerto Rico 54
Virgin Islands 88 Mexico 78
USA 88 Argentina 67

Score of the last game is flattering to the Argies, it was 71-34 midway through the third quarter when the US lost interest. No one has an answer for Quincy Miller so far. Interesting matchup between the US and Canada tomorrow.

Franz, so far in the U19 World Tournament since 1999, Argentina have been present in all of them, always ending in the top 10. Brazil has been in only two of them. True that Brasil have won bronze medal in 2007, but still Argentina has been present in all of them since 1999. This show that the argentine program is better than the brazilian program.

Not to mention in the adults national team that in this last decade Argentina has won one silver medal and a fourth place in World Cups and one gold medal and a bronze medal in Olympics.

Brazil, not olimpics games since 1996 and not medals in the world cups in this decade.

Well, during this last decade Argentina hasn't really produced any truly standout players individually, its good results have come more from good defense and teamwork than from pure talent. Brazil seems to be growing more talented players lately, but with lesser results.

I take it you mean Argentina hasn't produced any truly standout players after their golden generation?
