New Season, New Champions, New Thread...:D

-Oded Kattash is the new head coach of Hapoel Jerusalem, contract signed for the next 3 seasons. Rumors suggest that he will team up to half of his Galil Championship Team at Jerusalem.
-Kattash assistant, Lior Liubin succeeded him as head coach at Galil/Gilboa.
-Dan Grunfeld finally signed for an Israeli team. That team is Bnei Hasharon.
-Mickey Dorsman, current head coach (and supposed partial owner..) of Hapoel Holon stay at the helm for the next 3 seasons.

-All other news and signing regarding Maccabi Tel Aviv and Maccabi Haifa are in their respected threads.

-Dani Franko, former head coach of Hapoel Holon returnees to the team as assistant. Moran Roth also makes a comeback, signed a two year contract. Jamie Arnold has been "offered" to the team.
-Ido Kozhikaro left Maccabi Haifa after two season to probably end his career at Galil/Gilboa.

Meir Tapiro from Maccabi Rishon to Nancy?

Meir Tapiro from Maccabi Rishon to Nancy?

According to Walla Sport Meir Tapiro (1975 - PG) could return in France to play with SLUC Nancy, ProA. The playmaker has already played for Nancy in 2004-2005 (9.3 points, 5.5 assists).

What do you think about that rumor?

He is finnished. far away from his best days.
Even a bottom team in Israel, rejected his agent offer to sign him in cheap.
The reporter in walla is a public relations person of his agent, and trys to push Tapiro to a good contract.

Thanks.

Actually, 9.6 points, 6.5 assists (1st), it's not so bad for a finished player.

The Hoops Market has:

Maccabi Haifa interested is close to signing Sasa Bratic and is interested in Derrick Low.

Maccabi Tel-Aviv interestind in Esteban Batista.

Jason Rich close to signing with HaPoel Jerusalem.

Anybody have any info on this. Especially with Batista and Low?

Derrick Low got a lot of Israeli attention during Siauliai - Jerusalem games: he was pretty good , so it was kinda expected that Israeli teams will chase him.

I would really like to see Derrick Low in Haifa if that's true. He is the real deal - and cheap too (though I know some Greek team was interested in him a little while back).

Now since Limonad was cut, HM shows Maccabi Haifa and Galil Gilboa are interested in him.

Shalom Tony Washam, looks like he is heading to France. Thought he'd be Israeli by now.:D

Anyone have news on HaPoel Holon with their new budget? Are they planning on making any real moves?

Maccabi Tel Aviv signed Richard Hendrix, and released Raviv Limonad and Gal Mekel.

Maccabi Haifa supposedly "close to" signing U.S. Jewish baller Derek Glasser (Ok, not Grunfeld, Scheyer or Landesberg).

Looks like Tony got tired of being called "W-ee-sham" in Israel :D

As long as Dorsman stays in Holon, their budget is more then ok

The problem with Dorsman that he insists to be a head-coach , not just an owner :)

Some old:

Galil Gilboa extended Guni Israeli.

HaPoel Jerusalem signed Lior Hakmon.

Maccabi Haifa signed Yonatan Nir and Robert Rothbart (though one site had "HaPoel Haifa")

HaPoel Holon signed or about to sign Jamie Arnold, and signed Nir Cohen and Amit ben David (to go with Dagan Yavzuri and Moran Roth).

Barak Netanya signed Moti Moscovitz (to go with Ori Ichaki).

Anyone have rosters so far?

Galil Gilboa signed centre Anton Kazarnovski for two seasons.

Ironi Askelon signed John Jacques and Lior Lifshitz.

HaPoel Jerusalem signed Jason Rich.

Netanya signed guard Chris Watson.
he is much of a guard as I a NBA all star....
weirdest forward ever played, no dribble, no jump shot, basically zero offensive presence and a chucky hayes like FT..non the less, an experienced veteran leader that every Israeli team should have.

-2009-10 National league MVP guard/forward Itay Greenboim signed for Ironi Ashkelon.
-PG Tamir Ariely, Captain of the U20 NT signed for Maccabi Rishon.
-Talented SG Amit Simchon signed a 3 year contract for Hapoel Jerusalem.
-The supposed newcomer team Hapoel Yokneam/Meggido renounced their participation for the season and will stay at the national league.

This blog mostly reports confirmed news, but here is a rumor:
Hapoel Jerusalem, in talks with Stephon Marbury - The Hoops Market Blog, July 12, 2010

Hapoel Jerusalem is in talks with the former NBA star Stephon Marbury. The 33-year-old American guard is expected to give an answer to the Israeli team tomorrow. Marbury, who was also offered to Maccabi Tel Aviv for the next season, played last season 15 games in China for Shanxi, averaging 22.9 points and 9.5 assists per game. His last stint in the NBA was in the Boston Celtics, at the end of the 2008-09 season.

UPDATE: Marbury would be considering a $300.000-400.000 offer from Hapoel Jerusalem.
I'm impressed by Marbury's season in China. He seemed to embrace his new situation like a fish in water and he played well.

Not sure what to think of this, though I highly doubt it would happen. I never liked Marbury, but it may be amusing to see him in Jeru (of note, I heard somewhere that Maccabi Tel Aviv was interested, but that would be a huge mistake for them and, again, I highly doubt it).
