So, Jeric Teng was relieved from the squad? I mean, Kyle Pascual was somehow the replacement for Jeric? What's the final line-up of the RP Youth squad?

hhmm... 2 big men before flying, and another 2 before coming back. if niko joins in, then that's 5 big guys in the pool in a span of a few weeks. that nice.

im still hoping for atleast one pure shooter to open things up for our slashers and post players.

I hope this happens man..I'm excited about the team..Niko would be the right guy for the team.I hope they could also include Ray Parks on the team.Would anybody please post the team's roster with their height and age.:)

Well, we're spreading national pride but I'm thinking, wouldn't it destroy the idea of us fielding our pure Pinoy youth? Well, they're of Filipino heritage but then again, we might strike controversy yet again...

The Pinoy youth is not only located in the Philippines. They're all scattered around the world and it is SBP's duty to search for the best youth players and have them play for their mother land. The world has become small, you know?

Niko update

Niko update

Niko has committed to play for Yuba College for his first year of Post Secondary.

He is unable to participate in this year's RP Youth Team because of academics. His school will not allow him to be out for so long as he is graduating from high school in June and will have to write the Provincial subject exams to be able to complete all his units.

So anybody got info on this Van Opstal guy?

I noticed that he was the youngest and yet the tallest in the list mentioned: 6-7-C (15 yrs old)

I don't see the news about them?

Thanks!

What Stats!!!! Niko Monachini, a 6-foot-5 senior forward, who spent this past summer with Basketball B.C.’s Under-17 provincial team, was a terror around the hoop. In Wednesday’s quarterfinal loss to Yale, the U.S.-born Monachini produced 25 points, 21 rebounds and six blocked shots.
Over the Trojans three games, which included an 80-70 loss Thursday to the Handsworth Royals, he averaged 23 points, 14 rebounds and 3.3 blocks per game, while shooting .512 from the field.

Just I listed down their names as possible/qualified recruits in 1-4 years time.

The RP youth team need to focus on recruiting filipinos in the US. Canadian Basketball is not as strong as US basketball. since most of the kids we are recruiting are not D1 quality ,. We might as well get kids who are filipinos in the US who are used to stronger competition.

If we ( RP) are going to have a place internationally in basketball the coaches need to rethink their recruiting policy.

i think bigote's team is looking. maybe the Filipino's there are shorter? or just have a prior commitment. i believe we'll still get to form a great team once the tournaments starts.:)
