And to top that Pinoy Big Brother Edition, they paired up a kid from Ateneo High and La Salle Greenhills. I hope I'm not offending any Ateneans in this forum site but it's really blasphemous that Lasallians and Ateneans could be REALLY great friends. Yes, they could work cohesively but there's this recurring bad blood that no one could avoid.

Anyways, I think Paguia's a big man in the Juniors League, am I right?

actually growing in an environment filled with ateneans (well all of my barkada are ateneans) i think theres nothing wrong with the way PBB is doing it, buyt what i saw is that they're making stereotype that atenean are like that and la sallians are like. What you can see in ateneo is also what you can see in la salle.

Well, you're actually right, Mr. b3lowzr0. And I think ABS-CBN would be cashing in through text votes. Yes, the power of media's overwhelming a lot of people.

Mods, I suggest to retitle this thread to "2008 RP Youth Team", to better archive these threads. Come next year in 2009, for example, we'll then have to put up another thread titled, "2009 RP Youth Team".

[Good call rhk111, done ;)]

Okay, thanks, rikhadur.

Will Kyle Pascual be able to play for the RP Youth Team in the upcoming U18 tourney?

Kyle Pascual

Kyle Pascual

Not so impressive on his Esperanza team ( HS Team). We need players who are tall and aggressive. :) :)

Come to think of it, it's not exactly blasphemous at all. I have colleagues (and good drinking buddies) who are from DLSU, my brother teaches at Zobel, my best friend's brother is an ECE graduate from DLSU, I have an ex-girlfriend who was also an ECE major at DLSU, and the drummer in my band graduated from DLSU as well. The list goes on.

The truth is that the bad blood only comes out during the UAAP season. That doesn't preclude the idea of people from rival schools being good friends. After all, once you're already in the workforce, school rivalries matter little.

What I find more troubling, though, is the stereotyping that ABS-CBN is doing. During these two PBB Teen Editions, the "good guy" was/is always from Ateneo, the "bad boy" is from La Salle. I was wondering if they could put in someone from Ateneo's Kostka (not the school) Extension benches and a low-key Engineering or Education major from DLSU in the Big Brother House, just for the sake of smashing the stereotypes the Lopezes foisted on us.

Re: Paguia, he was part of the FEU-FERN frontline that placed second to Ateneo HS in the 2006 UAAP juniors' competition. That was a big lineup if I ever saw one. Paguia and Soc Rivera were simply lording it over the boards, with Mark Lopez playing the 3-spot. If it were not for Enzo Katipunan, Bacon Austria, and Mike Gamboa's heroics, the Baby Tams would have won it all.

don't forget paulino, knuttel, banal, and rosales. that was a well built team that gamboa and bacon ran over.i liked how tonino played during that series.

I think we should look forward on our homegrown talents. Papot Paredes and Jeric Teng would eventually grow and be great.

Paredes at 6-5, still 16 yrs old and a lot of promise....he could grow as tall as 6-8 or 6-9 in full adulthood. Definitely a future in RP basketball.

Do you guys think we should develop him as a center? or a pf/sf? I think we should develop him as a pf/sf. We could then look for other taller players to play center (perhaps even have a naturalized center). Anyway, I'm glad we finally have a good youth program.
