dreamwalker said:Correct, but they would compete in the Jones Cup with at least 2 imports, I think and some local reinforcements coming from a PBA ballclub.
RayV said:^IMO, a Sam Ekwe and an Emeka Udo are enough as imports (the paint is already secured with them in there) ... well, you could add a couple of PBA mainstays in there for reinforcements (probably a good PF - someone like JR Reyes or Ranidel de Ocampo and a stable experienced PG)![]()

MANILA, Philippines—The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) reiterated Wednesday its support to the BAP-Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas following complaints on the current leadership headed by president and telecommunications tycoon Manny V. Pangilinan.
In a statement by FIBA after its executive meeting from April 25 to 26 in Beijing, it stated: “The FIBA Central Board received reports on the ongoing conflicts in the Philippines. The FIBA Central Board has re-affirmed its support to the BAP-Samahang Basketball ng Pilipinas Inc and its leadership.”
BAP chair and Camarines Sur Rep. Luis Villafuerte had reportedly sent letters to FIBA alleging questionable disbursement of funds by BAP-SBP.
Meanwhile, the Central Board approved the creation of the FIBA World Club Championship that will feature the world’s top eight club teams starting in October 2009.
The participating clubs will include the organizer, one representative each from Asia, Africa and Oceania, and two teams each from America and Europe.

So, I hope those libelous and slanderous accusations by the defunct BAP are finally put to the garbage.
What's interesting is the creation of the FIBA World Club Championships starting October 2009. Gee, we should take this opportunity to play with the world's best. The PBA should commit its best team (All Filipino champs beefed up with 2 excellent imports) to participating in the regional qualifiers. We have a shot at qualifying for this.
donmar said:That would be exciting... PBA clubs should make their marks in the Champions Cup to be able to represent the Asian region in the World Club Champs..
By the way, so far as I know, the Northern Consolidated team of 1985 (Caidic, Lim, Calma, Engelland, etc...) was the only Filipino team in RP history that able to play in the competition before FIBA scrap the contest...
