Calzaghe's triumph against Roy Jones Jr. sums up a brilliant, colorful year for Wales sport. . . despite a small nation of 3 million people we surpassed our humble expectations in sports as we achieved a lot this year. . .

Joe Calzhage's notable conquests of 2 American legends Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr. . . talks that he will retire after Jones fight, making him the first undisputed supermiddleweight champion to retire undefeated aside from having the longest reigning world champion in recent years, having held the WBO super middleweight title for over ten years until he relinquished the title to concentrate on fighting at light-heavyweight.

The Wales rugby union national team won the Grand Slam on this year's Six Nations Championships, their second after winning the same trophy in 2005.

Cardiff Bluebirds reached the final of the FA Cup for the first time since 1927 before losing 1-0 to Portsmouth.

The Welsh members of team GB, cyclists Nicole Cooke and Geraint Thomas and rower Tom James, have done the nation proud by lifting gold medals in Beijing Olympics. . . likewise rower Tom Lucy and swimmer David Davies also gained silvers. . . Wales waited for 36 years for an Olympic gold – and then three turn up at once –

Wales Under-21 football side finished top of their qualifying group for the first time in their history which lead them a place into a two-legged play-off in the finals of the 2009 UEFA U-21 Championship (Arsenal's midfielder Aaron Ramsey is included in that squad)

“It is brilliant that a nation with three million people can do so well,” an Wales sports official said, “We are punching way above our weight.”

well, i have no complaints. . . keep on rolling Cymru Wales. . .
