Gilas gets a scare from Thailand. But the boys played respectable. Nothing spectacular but still a win.
 
Lish who had a terrible shooting night the previous game, waxed hot today against Gilas. In the first half it was Lamb who carried Thailand.
 
Not surprised that Thailand gave Gilas a bit of a scare. I wanted to Cone to post up Scottie against Lish just to challenge the Thai player's defense. I knew that the game is over when Thailand just went to Lish exclusively and just allowed him to cook. Lish will have games when he goes insane once in a while. He did that to Mongolia last year. However, making Lish cook is not sustainable and the lead could have been bigger if Gilas made gimme shots. A win is a win, but I think we're probably going to lose a close one against Jordan.

Nope… Thais know gilas playstyle that’s why they are familiar with us… did you watch Bahrain team last Pre OQT last month? Are you familiar w/ international basketball?

why would one even watch a 60++ ranked team? you know you're becoming pretentious (not to mention trying hard) by using the international basketball card. feeling ....
 
Well, Malditas at 7:30. We need to win by 5 goals or more against Myanmar to qualify for knockouts.

Thais and Indonesia knows us… that’s why they are not afraid playing gilas… but they are afraid playing against teams who are not familiar with it… that’s why they lose big vs Jordan… same why KSA beat Jordan before and Taipei beating China in the past… because they are in same region, they know the strength and weaknesses of their neighbors… Thais and Indonesia always playing vs Gilas every year… So they know our strengths and weaknesses… but it doesn’t mean Thai is already good in Asian basketball because they hang on against us…

SSD and Cape Verde before World Cup are above 60 ranked team… but they winning against higher ranked teams… rankings are important but sometimes it is not just about rankings… sometimes they are better than that… they are not given more opportunity to play before that’s why they are ranked too low…

Gilas players, and PBA players in general, should check their fundamentals. I know this is a win against Thailand but "bad fundamentals" is quite glaring here.

banking the lay-up is basic in basketball. not the most good-looking shot but a very efficient shot.

The thing about banking your shot is that, kahit malakas ng kunti yung tira mo, there's still a very good chance na papasok yan. However if you take a short-range shot or a point-blank range shot without using the glass, kunting disruption lang sa tira mo, high chances are, you'll miss the shot. And it's very frustrating missing a gimme or tutok na tira.
