19th Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou China

and why are we limiting ourselves with Ateneo.. UP is a very good team.. with a very good coach.. the only coach to beat Tab Baldwin.. even La Salle with Topex Robinson..
 
I still dont think the UAAP and NCAA will compromise their schedules to release their players for the Asian games. Anyway I believe Choke mentioned that their plan was that the Asian games team will still be composed of mainly players coming from the world cup pool and they were hoping that some of the other players playing in the B league and KBL would be available.

If we can get the SEA ineligibles, then great.
 
Here's my take...

SBP's mindset should be towards FIBA WC 2027 and I think the best answer for this is to send the core of either Ateneo, UP and DLSU with coach Tab, coach Gold and coach Topex handles the coaching staff with coach Jong. with the unavailability of JB due to the recent operation(he is day to day according to coach Jong), I think they could tap Ak34 and Stephen Holt to guide those collegiate players, I hope they could also include BGR for this.

maybe the foreign based players just don't want to play, might be a silent protest ..... towards the classless fans who booed chot and who keep on disrespecting the sbp just because gilas played par for the course?

i bet them foreign based players are now turned off once they saw the true colors of pinoy gilas fans
 
ah yes the uaap can set its own rules and say "no" but the pba is expected to say yes all the time? am i missing something here?

I will add Balti, Winston and if Adamson relents, Jerom. These guys have been involved in the pool before and except for Jerom should be available.

PBA commissioner Willie Marcial said the two basketball bodies haven’t sat down yet on the course of action to be taken by the country’s basketball federation in light of Gilas Pilipinas’ campaign in the ongoing FIBA World Cup

Marcial said he hasn’t heard yet from the SBP, but expects a possible sitdown with federation head Al S. Panlilio as soon as possible.

“Wala pa kaming pag-uusap pero malamang 'yan magpapatawag na yan ng meeting with (PBA board) chairman Ricky Vargas,” he said.

“Within the week yan malamang.”

Maybe SBP & PBA will sit down to discuss Asian Games a week before the quadrennial tournament starts! Classic SBP with its "usad pagong" behavior.

I’m inclined to believe it will be the SEA games team more or less.

Nothing to be worry about, he already remind those “bastos” pinoy fans that he ain’t a quitter and it’s not in his vocabulary to do so, therefore that “I resigned” is only for NOW and expect for the return of the comeback narrative amongst his biased mainstream media friends. besides 2027 is four years away and hiring some so-called panakip butas for now to avoid the heat of the moment. We had to remember Boss Al P. and DDO are Ateneo buddies.

The narrative of WC 2014 and AG 2014 up to WC 2023 going to WC 2027 are part of the storyline of the ill-fated Philippine basketball history. It's shaping to be that way...Deja vu...Gets??

first task of SBP is to confirm with Asiad organsing committee if they are imposing FIBA or OCA rules on players’ eligibility. Then call those in Asean and WC pool who ever is available. Then coach Tim Cone to handle.

Crossing my fingers that it's OCA eligibility rules, but will not be surprised if the host country opts for the other. It's a little strange that there seems to have no news yet concerning Asiad basketball player eligibility considering that the start of the games is just a few weeks away.

With Chinese basketball team now being a disappointment in the World Cup, are we expecting they will use OCA rules? They can’t even beat now fiba eligible players in Philippines and Lebanon, then they will allow ineligible players? I’m sure they will use this Asian games for their revenge tour to clean up the disappointing campaign of Chinese basketball… like Philippines, they took pride on basketball in China… so I will not expect to them impose OCA rule…
 
is it an option to skip basketball at the asiad? looks like the sbp is not in a position to put together a team anyway mainly because it seems no one wants to coach and play as they fear being ridiculed and bashed no end by classless gilas fans

Tim Cone already declined, so signs now point to Jong as interim.

Being a short-sighted organization, I don’t see the SBP naming a permanent HC till a month or a week from the Asia Cup qualifiers 1st window.
