it's been a while since I've posted,

congrats to our Gilas and CTC guiding a team who basically had a 1 week prep. and all the drama leading up to the Asian games.. beating same Jordan team that played in the WC who had months of prep is just a coaching genius..

btw, can't we just celebrate this and stop with this nonsense where was this we can win here comments leading up to the tournament with all the problems during the prep....

We are all happy here, and i also one of those happy guy today... But we all know the top 2 Asian teams didn't take Asian Games seriously, Lebanon didn't joined and Japan just bring their B squad... No negativity here... That's a fact... Overall, Japan is still the best Asian team, They are the ones who qualified for Olympics... We already achieved Asiad Gold... But the real battle here everyone knows is the FIBA Asia cup in 2025 and FIBA WC 2027... Being the FIBA Asia champions and best Asian team in WC to qualify in Olympics is the biggest value here.... This is the real battle... Still congrats for Asian Games Champs....

No asian will ever win fiba asia cup again with aus and nz there. So this tournament is pirely an asian one, it brings a different kind of prestige

your are correct sir
It just hits different when no oceania team is involved in a Basketball tournament though these two countries will elevate our basketball level

Congrats Gilas!

Never thought I'd see them win the gold but TBH I was silently kinda expecting we'd make a good run for it since this is a good team (not our absolute Team A but still very balanced). And, of course, CTC.

Also, can we please stop the Japeth hate? He had a bad game, even tournament, but you just have to appreciate his innate willingness to always play for Gilas. Just hats off to players like him.

This is the only basketball tournament in asia where the winner is crowned the asian champions.

Wow. I have the same sentiment with some of the IBNers here about not seeing in our lifetimes what just transpired earlier tonight. As a fan of RP team/Gilas basketball for so many years, it has come full circle for me tonight. Kudos to the whole team and to the SMC support, finally we are able to witness our team winning the Asian gold after 61 years. Damn, it's been that long. What a ride.

Yup, no guarantee this gets repeated. My suggestion to everyone is enjoy it for now and want more later.

This is a huge slap to SBP and their incompetent officials. Coach Tim managed to do it in less than a month what they couldn't achieve in the last 15 years. Get rid of SBP and start from the scratch. They've been babysitting chot for almost 2 decades now, nagkakalat lang naman.

The defense that kouame did to al dwairi actually paved the way for himself, edu and kai to be the best bigs in asia. This tournament will be the turning point in our frontline dominance in asia. What SBP has do moving forward is to ensure that at least 2 of the 3 bigs should be able to join major fiba tournaments from now on.

Congratulations and thank you for the gold!

Man when was the last time our NT won gold in anything? Was it in the Jones cup with Tenorio?

Not to take anything away from Tim Cone, but this is the Asian Games minus New Zealand, Australia, and Lebanon. Also, the competition between the World Cup and Asian Games is night and day. Let's enjoy this historic moment and slow down on the toxicity.

AU (and maybe NZ) I understand.

But Lebanon? At the very least we'll give them a good fight and if I actually think we'd win Team A vs. Team A. Japan is stronger than Lebanon I think.

Yep, let's savor this victory. At least for the moment we can lay claim to the best basketball team in Asia outside of AU and NZ. All those talks re: Team X will beat Gilas or is stronger than Gilas are hypothetical at this point.

Congratulations and thank you, Team Pilipinas! Let’s savor this gold and appreciate everyone who sacrificed and paved the way!

No way china will lose to japan as there is no underdog and gulat factor as they know who are the stars for Japan as for Lebanon istill think that w ecan exploit their lack of big man and I dont think they are much better especially against rhj and bohannon reinforced Jordan

I missed the game as I was working but I don’t mind. We emerged victorious. For me it’s absolute redemption after years of frustrations. Happy days ahead… Thanks to whole Gilas team and cheers to Filipinos around the world…

yeah, yeah, different competition, different level blah, note that Cone won with an inferior team against home-cooking. Chot had all the leeway and just couldn't hide the stink. He too, coached in Asian level competitions. You can't argue with results.

my parents was not even born the last time Philippines won the asian games gold medal, it is really a surreal feeling and with the talent that we have i dont think we will wait another 60 years to win it all again
