life is funny by the way. The day before the game Matsioulis says in an interview something like we have to play as a team, if we go the hero way, the team way will reap us apart and so on. Then comes the game and he is dressed on a cape with a big M on his chest :)

It's all fine with me, but don't start writing you are underdogs against Italy when it comes to the crunch.

I am writting that i'll be happy if we will finish in Top7 this year from the begining of this championship.

After garbage Italy-Israel game i thought the next one will be so damn different and it was so. Also i thought how Georgia seemed to be stronger than Slovenia and Chroatia at this stage and they were. Tough team with some strong players. No wonder it was the best 1/8 game.

I have seen so many "prophets" like you since Sabonis&company finished their cariers... And still we are here. It's much more interesting where will be your(slice me nice) team when this generation will leave.

Where will it be? Would a better question not be where is it now?

;)

Come on. If I'll start quoting Lithuanian posts about Lithuania being a medal contender I won't end till tomorrow.

It's all fine with me, but don't start writing you are underdogs against Italy when it comes to the crunch.

well some posters said we are not even top8. and our group had no top16 teams. so we made to top 8 and Im feeling very lucky to be here. thats more then we ever wanted , beating Italy would bring Lithuanias basketball to new hights. Can you imagine that?

This is the worst Lithuania I can remember. You are celebrating after a poor and difficult win against Georgia. Sad.

it's better to play poor and ugly and win than to play nice basketball and lose. don't you think so?

this is the worst comment ever. bashing us for celebrating after a win, a very important one ...

What we should do? cry? Every sane person was aware that this Lithuania is nowhere close to it's best, that getting into OQT is most realistic goal we can reach, so beating Georgia and bein' one win away from our goal of course is a reason to be happy. Personally I consider last nights win as somekind of win in semifinal for us, now it's final left, to get one win out of 3 games left

+1.SO our standarts are high in other eyes, that even in our worst teams still are in top8 ! half of europes countries making top8 is basketball festival in their countrys. Our worst years when lose 1/4 game...

When had Lithuania played nice bb and lost against teams of Georgia's caliber (or any other team except powerhouses as USA or Spain)?

Indeed, your standards are high, theoretically.

Strictly speaking, achieving QF only means you are one of the last 8, but it definitely does not mean you are one of the best 8 teams. You may or may not be, and we won't know that due to competition format. It will be recorded as such, which I guess is fair.

PS. For some reason, I always cheer for Lithuania since childhood, but I probably would have not, if I had been reading some comments at IBN in those days.

I see that this forum is not really about basketball.
It's about national pride of each nation.

And cheering comes to support the "nice" people instead of worthy basket ball players.
It's your choice, however I wouldn't decide about a nation after a few comments in a basketball forum.
I don't know who started the butthurt, however, every nation comes to bash our teams success after every win.
And we defend our team. And we are "the enemies" of the forum :) ridiculous.
I see that the younger generations have no respect for no one. Not even their national teams.

Please, if you want us to be polite, be polite yourself.

Better say - some are still living in the past and can't accept that we are not that great anymore or simply can't measure our real strenght, f.e. thinking that making top4 in last two weaker tournaments makes us overall top4 as it's not. It made our team a bad favour tbh, if we would have failed, the pressure would be way lower now

Well said. But on other note, it's not fair to make a conclusion out of few individuals write-ups. This way I probably would never cheer for any country, even my own :)

Nobody is your enemy in this forum. I have always seen the same things from you guys. It is hard to criticize your team because most of the times you are labelled as an anti-Lithuanian poster. Why would we hate Lithuania? It doesn't make sense. Since this is basketball forum, we will do make our criticisms which are normal. Everyone tells their opinions about NTs and there is no problem but when it comes to Lithuania, they kick up a row. I already don't take serious many Lith posters here.

And we were worse in Poland than now. :P So that's not the really worst team. Ofc, if you don't remember anything, it's your own problem. :)

If you didn't notice we are missing few very important players in our team... And everybody were screeming how poor group D is. But what do we have now - 3 teams from this group are in Top8.
P.S. You have short memory, in 1993 we lost qualification tournament, in 2001 we endend like 11 (having the same team that almost beat USA in 2000), in 2009 we finished 11 again.
