Slovenia came here without their team leader but as expected, with experienced players they managed to get the Lille ticket. I haven't watched Latvia much and this match-up will be a good duel for both teams.

Slovenia is looking good. Latvia without their home side fans will not be the same. Slovenia should win, but Latvia might surprise Slovenia.

Latvia doesn't have the strength under the basket. Also this time will play without their home side fans. So i give small chances to them. If Strelnieks, Blums and others hit some big threes, then maybe it can be a tough game. Haven't watched Slovenia though.

I'll be nervous for this one, when I was looking at Latvia I kept on thinking to myself there is no way they'd ever make out of the group if it wasn't for their home court, to my dissapointment as I liked them much more in 2013 and 2011 and consider them one of the least lucky NTs out there in the past years.

Slovenias game was at its best when we had strentch 4 and 5 on the floor with Blažič and Dragič penetrating at will 1 on 1 collapse the D, pass out or finish etc. However Latvian frontcourt is pretty much a mobile one and will defend that easier, while we're not exactly as succesfull at posting people up in the paint where Latvia has the potential to suffer the most. You can't rely on Omić being consistent there and Slokar even if underated is a bit soft.
On the offensive end Latvia is pretty much reliant on their 3pointer percentage, they've got good capable frontcourt and since Zdovc's philosophy is to help on D and rotate that inevitably leads to an open man on the 3pointer now and than and that's tougher to defend on a potential Latvian good days.

Latvia need to make it close game and than let slovenias "characters" loose the game in the end :) Slovenia have good players, but no winning mentality. But i dont know if latvians manage to keep it close. Most likely they wont and slovenia will advance.

Slovenia is trying to win by playing the style of ball that suits Latvia best. That's a first :-)

c'mon braliukai, you couldn't have asked for a better opponent in a knockout stage:cool:

42-40 latvia halftime. So far is shooting contest and no inside game.Slovenia is doing mistake trying to win a game against latvians out shooting them...

Good game by Latvia so far, great shooting day. Slovenia stayed in the hotel :-)

In general a bad bad coaching job by Zdovc in this one. Playing the style which plays into Latvia's hands is not the best way to win this one.

Congratulations Braliukai !!!

Not bad start for weakest group in entire europe championship history ! :D wouldnt be suprised seeying tommorow croatia strugle against Czechs, they have very similair mentality problem in playoofs like slovenia does...

Go Belgium too!

Bravo Latvia! They had a game plan, they did it and won. Excellent energy and hustle. Slovenia even though a better team stayed sleeping in the hotel. There we go, first upset

It seems i war right when thought Latvia got an easier opponent than Lithuania. Slovenia if you ask me is not solid by the roster and so was on the court.

Glad Baltic bros did it.

Congratulations Braliukai !!!

You stole my words :D

Congratulations Braliukai!!! Good start. It's almost impossible, but i enjoy imagining blow in all fan heads if all teams from our group would wind at 1/8 :D

f it.
No intensity, no determination, too relaxed, too much hesitation that's too often mislead for "smart" play, playing as if we've got some individual advantage over the Latvians that should win us the game by the sole appearance on court. Seems like this team was feeding a lot through fans, without those being around in the same numbers, the true value of the team showed up, just like in previous instances.
Congratulations Latvia, well deserved victory and it was about time they pass on to some good result in eurobasket, considering how little luck they had in the past decade.

2017 it is than, hopefully at least borderline "complete" once for a change as well as with Mesiček, Dončič and one of the young PG's coming up.

Soory for this Josko. Suprise yes but not any earthquake. SLO hade the same problems as us, with out TOP class G and good center this is about as much as you can do. Aint enough with only good SG players.
