So Belgium it is and if we win we play Spain. I am not comfortable facing Spain but this time we have equal chances.

I think we should rest players against Belgium too. They are not to be underestimated of course,I have much respect for them, but I suppose Spain will do the same against Poland,so we need to do.

[Round 2 - Day 1] Greece - Belgium

Greece has finished the group as one of the undefeated teams of group stage. They were a question mark at start but day to day they have been improving their system and appeared as a real contender for the title. Belgium was kinda inconsistent as performance wise but they are the team with full of surprises.

resting players in knockout stage? thats confident. or arrogant :p

That's plain arrogant. We have to give our 100% in the match against Belgium. Anything else is being risky and stupid.

We lost our exhibition game at Belgium btw. I know they won plenty of home calls that day and that probably Spanoulis wasn't also there(I'm not sure since I didn't watched it) but they definetely are not to underestimated..

But probably also Lojeski from their side right?
Anyway we can't take that game seriously..

Let them do just that, we should give a full effort, and then play the next game tired, against Poland.

BEL is an excellent team. If we don't take the game seriously, we will lose.

I know this sounds arrogant, but players like Spanoulis and Zisis aren't getting any younger and they have already played much.Same goes for others as well (Bourousis for example, who is also injury prone). We also need to give even more time to Mantzaris,Perperoglou and Papanikolaou in order to have all the players ready against Spain.I am confident that with the depth we have as a team,Spanoulis,Bourousis and Zisis playing 10-15 minutes and Printezis less than 20 shouldn't be a problem if the rest of our players are focused.

I think he was speaking about the friendly one, and he is right. But this one, we should take it 100% seriously. Belgium may be weaker than Greece potential-wise but their style of game doesn't suit us.

Greece is the favorite. They can't go around that. But make no mistake. The Belgians have set a clear goal, which is to make the top 8. They said that repeatedly in the preparation phase. That is their minimum goal. So, there is definitely some pressure there for them. Both teams have to win and it is going to be a very tough game. Greece has to play hard to beat them. Also, the loss of Greece in preparation phase is going to be very useful for Greece.

If this is their minimum goal, then they commited suicide when they lost to Latvia.Anyway,I don't think our bench can't handle Belgium's starters. That would be absurd. We also have a better coach. So yes, they must not be underestimated, they are a good team, but not overestimated either. Our goal should be the QF game.We should do the job quickly, cleanly and as efortlessly as possible and focus on (probably) Spain.

Belgium has very good team this year.
But this will have only one winner and i think its Greece.
We must give 100% absolutely because we saw that our usualy blackouts could be a big problem
Against Georgia we lost the 3rd quarter by 26-11. I dont want to watch the same

Belgium seemed to me like the shortest team in the tournament. They have absolutely no inside presence. Unless they get red hot from the 3, we should have plenty of time to rest people in the 4th quarter.

Belgium's starting trio of Van Rossom - Tabu - Lojeski plays some really good basketball, lots of movement, cutting in, searching for an open man, kind of simmilar to Greece in a way. Bourousis, Koufos, Printezis will hurt them bad inside in my opinion, however their agility on the C/PF can maybee make up for defending some PnR and stretching the floor a bit. Belgium's game also tends to drop without Van Rossom in the game, their 2nd lineup isn't as well rounded as the 1st offensively and they to go a bit wild in those periods.
Overall I expect Greece to win, however Belgium has theoreticaly wise played one of the better structured bball on this tournament so far and as much as people will love making fun out of teams that qualified from group D, I believe they'd make a good impresion in just about any other group, group B included.

I don't think Belgium has a lot of chance, since the basketball style they play (down and dirty, tough D) is something that suits Greeks and usually in games like that they tend to come out on top vs most of the teams. Also if you are to set that kind of game tempo and be a bit rough and try to out-hustle team that will also be difficult since they have a lot of high-energy players and a BIIIIIIG bench with players to step in. The best way to attack Greece is through bigs, and work on Bourousis the Greek Zaza :D Boards are also the key, since in that tempo of a game you need any possession that you can get. In general I think they don't have a chance since Greece will switch it on now in the knockouts. I like Belgium's approach though building a system and with years in development and some more quality players it will be a serious team. I like that they don't rely on individual talent of one/two "star" players like many other small teams do.
