I guess we understand defence better.Good defence exhaustes the players,.Apart from some runs from Greece on first half, I don t remember any easy baskets, people seem to think that all these steals and mistakes were done because players forgot how to pass the ball.Congratulations to Russia, they deserved it!

Exactly. Too many NBA all star game fans in this thread.

Pappas averaging 13 minutes is just a reason to be sacked all by itself. It is not that Greek bench is unproductive, the fool couldn't have managed to count few more players into rotation despite playing 7 games in this tournament. He is proving the point of all those guys who have made fun of him right.

He had just about the exact same minute distribution against Lithuania but I don't remember anybody complaining.

He might not play again as he just said.

Yeah that's too bad. He came along in the in between period. Too young for the 2005-2009 team. Too old for the Giannis led teams that are ahead.

Minutes add up.

I like coaches who tighten rotations in playoff or knockout games. I want to lose with my best possible players on the floor. That way I can never have regrets. But you're right they add up and I didn't follow closely his minute distribution in the group games. That's where I think you use a larger rotation and incorporate the bench.

I had the impression that Pappas was overwhelmed of his first NT tournament participation. He looked afraid exactly the opposite of the usual behavior.

Now having in mind the circumstances the result of this tournament is ok.

The weak spot as usual in the Post-Tsartsaris era is our center/big men position.

Bouroussis is growing old, Papagians is unexperienced, Bogris is not ready for this level, Agravanis too unexperienced and uncontrolled

In addition we had an imbalance between guards and forwards. We defenitevly need one more top-class guard.

The biggest dissapointment was Papapetrou's contribution. Looking back I remember little basketball IQ, stupid fouls and not so much 3pt shooting

Missas is a nice guy but he defenitevly is not the man that should be in charge of the greek NT.

I am prefering to built up one of the 2005ers interested in coaching as new NT coach.

Vasilopoulos should step back and one of the 1987ers should become federation president.

I don t blame them, a good show is always preferable to watch, but I would expect some understanding and appreciation for good defence . After all, 4 teams that play decent defence are going to be in the semifinals. ..

Papatheodorou new NT coach! Can please sombody take care of Solinas, please?!?!?!?

Sure, but you can loose with your best seven players. I mean, five? Let seven players play 30 minutes. Anyway, overall this Greek team was rather average this tournament.

There are not so many alternatives consdering the best ones can't take over with their Euroleague jobs. I think he'll be there only for the qualifiers though.

couldn't watch the game, but huge congrats to all russian posters here, and especially the Terrorizer guy, who had to endure many years of subpar and even crap russian squads before this current cohesive unit managed to beat greeks in their own grind-it-out style... And not even his "beloved" chucker Shved could spoil the russian party with his bad shooting night, judging from the statline anyway. Congrats to the greeks too who as usual thought their hearts out and left it all on the court, just like against Lithuania. I guess it's too bad this time you faced real men instead of scared chicken, led by a scared rookie coach....oh well, I guess both of our NTs were not prepared for a medal run at the end of the day

Hello my friend!

Giannis ------Freak of Nature........
Dorsey-------Athletic & can SHOOT..
Koniaris------Good Shooter as well..

^^^^Some of these guys might be able to help..

Who are some other players that can eventually make spots of the next NT roster?

I also know of but can't really tell how good these guys actually are:

Charalambopoulos
&
Auguste

As for another big-man there is always Koufos..(not too great, I know).

I think Greece needs to develop ONE highly skilled big-man...

Papagiannis actually impressed me, but he should be used ony in certain situations and certain games where inside strength and a big body is needed..

Bourousis really looked like he had lost a couple of steps during this Tournament, and is rightfully retiring from the NT. I thank him for his great services all these years!

Printezis should stay for two more years...he will be part of a great Greek NT next Eurobasket!

Also, I think it's time to bring the Dragon back as a Coach...

Shame that Greece gave the game away...but still, congrats to Russia for taking it!!!!

Russia was dominating in the second half but Shved and Fridzon tried to offer the game, they made a great effort. It would have been sufficient to score one of all these 3pts at the end, Greece with all their problems would have won.

This tendency of superficiality and suicide is a mystery for me, it is typical of ex Soviets but I will never understand its logic. Shved shot 7/22 and played less seriously than a harlem globerotter player, Fridzon shot 3 airballs in 2 minutes.

Mozgov maintained a professional behavior and saved them.

Russia won because at the end of a game there must be one winner. If a possibility existed of both teams coming out as losers, Greece and Russia would have found it.
I could agree but Greece took "normal" shots and missed them. Russians were simply throwing away the ball or they gently gave it to greek players.
