09-10 NBA All-Star Weekend

Iverson starting should not be a big deal, especially to the purists, I mean they would not watch the all-star game anyway right? :D He started last season & was subbed out within like 3/4 minutes. Allen Iverson is an honorary starter. This is what happens when you thoroughly entertain the fans for more than a decade, they give their thanks & gratitude. And I love it, because if you go online and read stuff about Allen, you would think he is a universally despised player. But reality does not reflect that because he is still very much loved by many many people.

Moreover, All-Star weekend is not just about the game itself. Fans want to see the best players in the world with their unique personalities mingle with each other throughout the course of the weekend's festivities. Simply stated, there is no all-star weekend without Iverson & Shaq. :) Fans can see Rondo for the next five years, this will be one of Iverson's last, if not his last all-star game.

And oh year Maurice Williams was absolutely playing like an all-star prior to the little week and a half mini-slump in January. He was one of the main reasons Cleveland thrashed the Magic & L.A on the road, and he damaged Nash both times.

Allen iverson !!! :):)
yeah allen iverson.......the fans love him...its all about the fans !! :)

G: Rondo (not in the top2), fans want AI

West:

I want to see Lebron in the dunk contest, I don't want him to win though..

damn... star team.. ill pay for watch it hehehe..

D.Lee and C.Kaman should have been selected instead of Horford and Gasol

With Chris Paul out of the All-Star Game due to injuries, many believe that Monta Ellis could be a replacement.

As a Warrior fan, I would love to see Monta in the All Star Game. Unfortunately, I think it's going to be Chauncy Billips selected as CP3s replacement.

Paul Pierce is out with a broken foot.

Who will replace him? Lee, Bargnani or Granger? Who else?

The West does not have any Center: Amare, Tim, Dirk and Pau are all PFs. C.Kaman should be picked.

I'd go for either David Lee, Antawn Jamison or Andre Iguodala. Granger has been sub-par this year.

After CP3, the Western Conf have lost a second Guard. Portland's Roy will miss the All-Star game :(. Who should replace him?

I would go with Monta Ellis. I believe he does deserve a chance to be playing in the All Star Game especially since he's averaging career highs in points, assists and steals.

Kaman will replace Roy.

Cook, Billups, Gallinari, Frye, Pierce and Curry will compete in the 3point shootout.

Miami guard Daequan Cook is under fire right now. The defending 3-point champ has been in & out of the Heat rotation due to inconsistent play. His woeful 30 percent from 3 point range is lower than many who are not even in the contest. Some are annoyed that he took the spot of other more deserving players. Cavs fans kept lobbying for Gibson, but they found out that the defending champion always has to defend his title.

The NBA set the precedent back in 1993 that it values having the 3-point champ defend his title. In this year Craig Hodges defended his championship, but the thing is Hodges wasn't even in the NBA at the time! He was waived the season before & never signed on to a team for the 92/93 season. I remember they showed this video of Craig shooting jumpers in his backyard to stay in shape. :D So it doesn't even matter if you are not in the league, the NBA wants you to defend your title if you are able to. :) Actually Cook is like the streakiest out of all these guys, I say he surprises and wins it again.

Bryant unsure about playing in All-Star game

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Kobe Bryant isn't sure if he'll play in this weekend's NBA All-Star game in Dallas because of his sore left ankle.

Bryant missed his second consecutive game Monday night against San Antonio, which lost to the Los Angeles Lakers 101-89.

"If I'm not able to play, I won't play. But I'm healthy, I will," he said.

Bryant said he can't push off on his left foot.

"I can't move to play. Can't go," he said, adding he would be a game-time decision Wednesday at Utah. "If I'm ready to go, I'll play."

Lakers trainer Gary Vitti would like Bryant to rest through All-Star weekend, capped by Sunday's game. Bryant said he couldn't commit either way.

"I don't know what it's going to look like on Sunday. I'm not clairvoyant," he said, laughing.

Bryant stayed in the lockerroom to get treatment Monday night.

"It's frustrating. I'm not used to this. I don't know what the hell players are supposed to do back here," he said. "I don't know what's going on half the time."

Bryant's streak of 235 consecutive games played ended Saturday when he sat out the Lakers' first win at Portland since 2005. He said his reputation for being a warrior who refuses to shut it down is overblown.

"I'm not an idiot. I'm not going to run through a wall just to run through a wall," he said. "If it's an injury where I feel like I can play through it and have it heal while I'm playing, then I'll play. But if it's the type of injury where it's going to get worse when I play, then I won't."

Asked what percentage he needed to be at to play again, Bryant said, "If I can move, I'm good. If I can move and get to the basket, I'm good."

Bryant originally sprained his ankle on Jan. 29 in Philadelphia. He aggravated it last week against Charlotte when teammate Lamar Odom stepped on his foot.

Already this season, he's been playing through a fracture of his right index finger.

Andrew Bynum missed Monday night's game because of a bruised right hip.
