So who's going to september 8,6pm qatar vs gilas tune up game @ ynares shaw?

Thanks for sharing that info! Good win for us but still it was just an exhibition game. I don't want to sound "killjoy", but Qatar NT has that reputation of holding back so much ( or should I say, toying around) in tune-up games. That's what Qatar did to Smart Gilas-1 last year when the Qataris visited Manila & play a series of tune up games along with the Jordan NT prior to last year's FIBA-Asia Men's Championship. Of course, it's just normal for a team not to take tune-up games too seriously, but at least a team would exert about 70% to 80% of it's real game in tune-ups. But I think, in last year's tune-up games, Qatar just played 30% of it's real game against us.

I hope Qatar didn't do that tonight against Gilas-2.

Gilas beats qatar 78-71. Coach chot letting everybody play and balanced the minutes a bit. LA was great again today!

I think we did not play 100% in this game also..anyways i dont care of what the result is,its just a practice game..:)

you worry too much .... let's just enjoy the basketball.

Coach Chot and the management not that worried about what you are saying as they are more concentrated with our own preparation. As it is called, its a practice game so its nothing but practice, no bearing what so ever. If you say they did not play 100% so we did also, if they hid something, we hid something too. So its nothing to be so alarmed about.

just came from ynares with fellow IBN members...just sad that i didn't see Sir nardy as i was hoping i could take a picture with him.... ;( will be posting pictures here in a moment... ;)

@Nardy: saw a camera crew!, don't know if that Aktv or TV5 network you have to wonder if they will re-broadcast a practice game on Tv?

nice game..kudos to the referees..lolz. LA Tenorio was like the vintage Johnny A, walang "ka-match ang clutch", you may quote me on that. :) there was a bit of brouhaha an hour before the game, muntik pa hindi papasukin ang crowd, balak yata gawing closed door tune-up game. Well, anyway, lucky for us, the venue was open to the public right on cue after guys like Coach Chot arrived at the venue. also met new faces, Huwebes and toofast23. other forumers here sana nagtabi-tabi tayo, Huwebes had an improvised banner, sana lumapit lang kayo. I happened to see him, kaya lumapit ako, then nung lumipat kame pwesto sakto IBN forumer din yung nasa harap namin si toofast23. kerouac joined us after the game for the photo ops spree and sir nardy was also at the building, as usual. :)

Qatari Team Manager very angry about that. It's actually a team from TV Patrol of ABS-CBN, "pasaway", despite pleas not to do so they kept on shooting.

There is a very strong possibility Qatar would ban the public from watching their game vs Ginebra.

During halftime, we had to talk to one of the refs to implement FIBA rules more strictly, our players kept on doing their defense with their hands and arms which is a no-no in FIBA Tournaments, if they keep on doing that expect a lot of our players in foul trouble and Coach Chot charged with Ts for excessive complaining. At FIBA you defend using more your body and feet ..... we must adjust. The officiating will not be like the one we experienced in Taipei as in Tokyo it would be veteran FIBA-Asia and FIBA refs who would not hesitate to call Ts.

tsk.. tsk.. too bad hope they would not banned public viewing, at least we got media attention going on especially from a rival network (BiasCbn).

Amen to that sir Nardy.
well, it is my honest observation (though unpopular to some), it is always evident that our visitors are always having a hard time with the officiating especially in games that are not FIBA-sanctioned wether it's a pocket/invitational tourney or a tune-up game like this one. well, we were discussing with other IBN forumers while watching the game (Huwebes and toofast23), na niluluto din naman daw tayo sa abroad.

just like L.A foul on a breakaway layup against a Qatari player! quite surprised at LA for not knowing what its an advantage foul is in (Fiba) good thing for us this is a practice game. hope our PBA player learn to adjust especially when chasing down opponents on Breakway layup.

that is not the case even if we host the FIBA-Asia Championship, it would not be PBA referees or PBA rules that will be there. It will be FIBA refs. That's why during the game there was a number of stoppages due to "almost altercations", frankly our players tactics like pulling the jersies or shorts would not do in FIBA tournaments. If our refs did not get-in-between the players could have resulted in fights even if it was just practice. They had just played in Lithuania where they encountered very physical rough defense but ours could be considered by other countries as dirty but maybe to the lesser degree as what the Koreans do but honestly our players must do away with a number of bad habits they got accustomed to while playing in the PBA.

that is supposed to be a technical foul with 2 free throws plus ball possession for Qatar. Also note that a technical foul is counted as a personal foul to the offending player in FIBA rules.

what i noticed earlier was the number 13 qatar player....whoooooh i though LA and him are gonna box in the middle of the court LoL i ws surprised LA didn't backed down though he like only half the height of that player.... nabailib talaga ako sa tapang ni LA... his confidence really sky rocketed after that mvp performance in jones cup... it was like i was watching slam dunk in real life... he really got awesome moves and he didn't care if the one who's guarding him is really tall..sobrang lakas at tapang ng loob grabe... i vividly remembered one of his moves earlier... he was driblling the ball and he got two defenders in front of him then bigla nyang iniwasan yung depensa ng dalawa...it's like a euro step like move..where in he sliced the defense in the middle..bigla sya pumasok sa gitna ng dalawang defenders...and then he got an open lane and a big qatari player was waiting for him and then this defender jumped as high as he can but LA tenorio made a tear drop shot so high but in the moment i thought it was gonna be blocked by that defender and swoooshhh it made the basket...i was shouting crazy for that move... yung pamangkin ko mura ng mura when he saw that move LoL.... ;) ...

on my POV it wasn't an advantage foul, trigger happy lang si referee..bawi mode lang on the Qatari side. well, from my angle lang naman, it was a bump and a simple reach-in, it could've been an ordinary reach-in foul. there were many non-calls in favor of the home team, I was just laughing while enjoying the game. If Magoo was watching this game, he'd say that "no chance in hell", sa mga mintis ng Qatar sa perimeter (because they were shooting blanks all day) plus yung referees getting in their heads, good luck sa AfriQatar team. :) I don't know if this Qatari team was on-purpose missing all their perimiter shots and a lot of their free throws, kumbaga sa bilyar pakagat lang muna, tapos biglang lyelyebo, papataasin lang ang pusta. hehe

nice pic..a face I won't forget..same goes with the other fans harassed in the venue an hour earlier. :)
aba'y bugawin ba naman mga tao, tawagin lahat ng security guards, ipasara yung gate tapos tumawag ng pulis. :)
patriotism at its finest :)

buti na lang at di sya nakatikim ng malulutong na mura sa mga fans grabe yung ginawa nya kanina...parang ayaw nya mapanuod ng fans ang smart gilas...they are the national team and this guy doesn't even understand what the meaning of being a national team means... nakakainis sobra...i thought i will not be able to watch the game... nanggaling pa ako ng marikina tapos ganun grabe... it's like he doesn't even care for the fans or for the people of the Philippines who wants to watch our take note "NATIONAL TEAM" ... dami galit sa kanya kanina eh... though this is not part of the game this is one side story i will not forget LMAO!

OO nga I notice that also. especially the no.6 guy he's like out of shape but love shooting those long ball. and Qatari player's keep egging him to shoot para sya si beu belga minus the accuracy ha.. ha...
