Curious about the no. 20 guy of Qatar as he looks like American... Saad Ali is a Canadian transplant as we knew

All I can say is this Qatari team is so damn old, 2 or 3 of them were supposed to have retired a couple of years ago. I remember them as the batch of Qataris before the coming of the "Afro-Qataris" who mauled the National Team composed of MBA players led by Romel Adducul. Except for 2 players who came from their GCC U16 and U18 Champion Teams, this is practically the same quintet which reached its peak when they played in the 2006 World Championship.

curious also, one of them looks like the vocalist of Blessid Union of Souls. I have mistaken him as Ngombo (akala ko tinubuan ng buhok na mahaba) but after seeing his footwork..nah.

Musa, Saad, Daoud, Ali, Saeeed, Ali.. thats the core of that classic Qatar NT.. that is foeced to have another tour of duty because of that controversy last year..:D

Maybe that's Clinton "Trey" Johnson, an American player with NBA credentials being eyed by Qatar for naturalization. That player has stints w/ the LA Lakers & New Orleans Hornets.

Yaseen Ismael Mahmoud Musa (power forward), Saad Abdulrahman Ali (point guard), Daoud Mousa Daoud (off-guard), Ali Turki Ali (small forward), Erfan Ali Saeed (power forward).

These are the hold overs of Qatar NT who have been playing international basketball for almost 10 years now.

I think some of these guys played against Redbull in an exhibition match during the Enrico-Torion-Harp-Miller era

Hi Guys, to those who watched the Gilas 2.0 vs Qatar scrimmage, any insight on Matt Rosser's game ? How was his offense ? defense ? Does he exude confidence or is he tentative ? Interesting to see how he is doing with Gilas.

He is young..

You can imagine a John Arigo without the baggage.

If you think its good or bad we'll see..

nope he did not arrive.

So qatar is a strong team, pray for that we are not the ones who will be in their targets. And hopefully the 2014 wbc isn't one of their goals lol

How can Qatar not aim for the 2014 World Basketball Championship? Of course they will aspire to go to that tournament so you can bet that just like everyone else (China, Iran, Philippines, Korea, Lebanon, Jordan, Japan, Taiwan), Qatar will come to next year's FIBA-Asia Men's Championship "armed to the teeth".

That's a given.

But that's becoz Qatar was stripped of a No. of key players who were declared ineligible. Among the players barred from playing for Qatar was Targuy Ngombo who is considered to be the team's best player. Imagine, Qatar was left with only 6 players for the tournament. Syempre di sila mananalo doon! But coming into that tournament, Qatar of course aspired for a medal finish.

yep you knew that in Pan Arab games Ngombo and co. played as it nothing happened and then this time they are on hold again:cool:

Qatar isn't a rich country because they only got oil.. Is it because they are smart they knew what it takes to get their respective goals..The Fiba Asia president is still a Qatari right?
