And that's what I call disrespectful and disrputive [to whoever is OFFICIALLY running the show] yes?
Yes and yes and more. Why are you acting surprised? We all knew this already.

That "clause" you allude to is so easy to circumvent making it pretty much useless. It guarantees absolutely nothing. I still feel that suiting up for one's country must be a priveledge/responsibility that comes from one's own volition, not through force of contract stipulations.
Enrico Villanueva, foibles and all, seems to be the only one solidly associated with the SMC group with the cujones big enough to give Pogi Boy Noli a big F.U. to his face. It obviously doesn't bode well for him within the organization he plays for, but he's showing loud and clear that he's no one's lackey or puppet. It doesn't change the fact that his play still kinda sucks, but I commend him for going against the grain.

Honestly DT, when it is indeed SMC's turn to churn out their version of the "National Team," I expect nothing ... I mean NOTHING less than an Olympic Gold Medal and a FIBA World Championship. With all their kayabangan antics and disrputive behaviour, anything less than that would be a failure of titanic proportions.
You better pray that your beloved RSA/Eala tagteam can bring home the bacon. If not, I''ll keep on calling you Pogi Boy Eala's butt b/tch forever.
lolz
Loading and reloading while waiting their turn. Now, that's what you call a "long-term" project!![]()
I'm pretty sure that if SMC did not want Rico to enlist in the NT then they would ask him not to..speaks volumes when they allowed him.

"Allowed" him? What are they gonna do? Physically stop him from doing what he wants? Scare him that they would unilaterally rescind his existing contract? The last time I checked [I come from a family of lawyers btw], that's against the law [oblicon]. The best threat they could throw at him is maybe when his present contract ends, they wouldn't re-sign him [which probably scared the living crap out of Yap, Pingris, Arwind, et el].
The way I see it, Enrico probably didn't give a flying fvck, and decided to do what he wanted anyway despite the probable dagger stares from his higher ups.

this might be out of topic but i think we can appreciate MVP more with what he is doing for the national.. he is not even in the top 40 richest in the Philippines..

Maybe you forgot that in 2007 when Enrico was traded away when attended the practices of the San Miguel sponsored National Team without the approval of the then Photokina owned Red Bull.
Enrico can very much say to SMC Management in 2007 I prioritized the National Team when you are the sponsors, so what is now the difference with the team now sponsored by MVP.

Is Red Bull getting a fair shake in Villanueva trade?

The real reason behind the trade of Enrico Villanueva to San Miguel Beer has been shrouded in mystery when it became known that his team Red Bull will be getting Romel Adducul, a player who is in the twilight of his career.
Villanueva, who could be Red Bull’s franchise player, was dealt to the Beermen officially yesterday after weeks of speculation regarding his future.
The Red Bull team said in statement yesterday that Villanueva was being shipped to San Miguel because management "learned he was no longer happy playing with us."
Though unhappiness is a significant factor in most trades, there was no indication prior to this development that the one-time Ateneo star wanted to leave the organization.
Red Bull even indicated that it doesn’t want to release the player to the national team because he was an important part of the team’s title drive.
That Villanueva still wanted to stay on as a Red Bull was indicated by a person close to the player who said he doesn’t believe Villanueva wanted to be traded.
He, however, agreed with the observation that Villanueva’s desire to play for the national team may have led to his eventual departure.
"What probably precipitated the trade was Villanueva’s commitment with the national team," the source said.
Red Bull, which drafted him out of Ateneo four years ago, yesterday confirmed reports that Villanueva has been traded. His trade was made public in an announcement made by PBA Commissioner Noli Eala Monday in Thailand.
The Bulletin tried to get in touch with Villanueva to ask for his reaction but the calls were not immediately returned. The player was scheduled to arrive yesterday from Thialand where he played for the national team in the SEABA tournament.
"He (Villanueva) is definitely a big loss to Red Bull, but his absence is not going to prevent management, coaching staff and players from pursuing our desire to give our best and win in every game," the statement read.
Since Rudy Hatfield begged off, Villanueva has been religiously attending national team practices.
Red Bull may have felt that it could no longer get 100 percent commitment from Villanueva, thus the trade, the source explained.
Curiously, the Bulls were 3-0 without Villanueva.
"Rico (Villanueva) is an important part of the team. He has made tremendous improvement and even became best player of the conference. He has helped us many times, but Red Bull has also helped him achieve his present form," said Red Bull coach Yeng Guiao.
Trading marquee players is not new for the Energy Food & Drinks franchise.
Among the players Red Bull has done away with in the past include Kerby Raymundo, Willie Miller and Lordy Tugade.
The Bulls have won three conference titles and placed second twice in eight seasons.
"Red Bull will remain in the same fierce, competitive team it has always been as we open a new chapter in our exciting, colorful campaign in the PBA," the statement concluded.
Villanueva’s transfer in exchange for Adducul, however, raised a few eyebrows since the trade is too one-sided in favor of San Miguel which will be getting a player whose game is in ascendance while Red Bull will be having one whose best years are over.
"They are not saying it but I guess a lot of money changed hands in that trade," said a high-ranking PBA official who requested not to be identified for fear he might be misunderstood.
He said giving up Villanueva for Adducul is almost laughable unless the Red Bull management is getting something substantial in return.

Where is Ramon Ang his rival #hehehehe
Because he is asked to do so (Tax relief)
How sure are we that he declared his wealth correctly? Unfortunately Big Businessmen are not required to submit their SALN? Do you think he'll be willing to have a waiver on the secrecy of his Foreign Currency Accounts?
I wonder what happened to the wealth of the Late Tan Yu as in 1997, Forbes estimated his net worth to be about $7 billion, ranking him as one of the top 10 on the Forbes rich list. Where are his daughters, Dr. Emilia "Bien-Bien" Roxas-Yang and Elena Tanyu-Coyiuto and his other 3 children.
Haha. Well, coming for you-- a bitch from/for both camps-- it'd be a some sort of honor. Your're sort of the combination of both camps persona anyway, your lack of balls comes from one side and your fake arrogance comes from the other.
Great article Nardy. So I guess we really can say that Enrico , historically, has always never given a flying fvck to the wishes of his higher ups.
hahahaha
Wow ... the claws come out after some jovial ribbing. Rather harsh wouldn't you say? Did I hurt your feelings or bruise your ego?
Sheesh ... lighten up. Ang pikon talo mate.
Ang unang pikon ang laging talo
Don't worry, i still think you're not one of 'em superfans though lately you've been acting like one. IBN will understand that you're just a little frustrated![]()
