Euroleague upgrade. My thoughts

The problem is that the pool of EL level players is limited and , to my sorrow, it isn't growing. Ex-Balkan states & Lithuania used to be EL "factories", but not anymore. This is especially true for guards. Centers are still produced (Gasols, Pekovic, Valancunas, Mozgov, Asik...), but are usually lured by big money ( that no EL club can compete with) to fill the void over the ocean.

Expanding EL to 32 teams will result the price of top level players to raise ( more clubs to compete for them) , certainly not adding to the current clubs' financial stability. We'll get more teams with Unics/Spartak syndrome : a team with extreme short bench fighting in 2-3 competitions until total exhaustion somewhere mid season...

Can't agree. Pohani komarac is right, I think. Players are produced but they usually don't end up as a stars in Europe. And even if they become stars here, they take their talents to the NBA. Simple as that.

There are clubs whose mode of operation is developing young players , selling them to big sharks & developing new youngsters to fill the void.
When the pool of young talents is growing thin, this mode is disrupted.

Take Partizan for example, this year they more or less survived with the help of players that were already sold , so they're out of regular operation cycle : Pekovic, Raduljica, Macvan. The most disturbing is the situation with guards : Bozic, Kecman are well over the hill and there are no young players to replace them.

The situation with NTs is another sign, take Lithuanian NT for example : Saras , Kaukenas are still called in , despite the age , just because there is no replacement for them among youngsters.

.

reason for that is becuse clubs are forced to sell their players to survive. imo, like i said depth of decent players in ex yugoslavia is still big, just there are not much stars in ex yugo basketball this days. problem for clubs is that this days even decent players this days play in spain, russia, turkey, greece, italy and so on. all clubs here are bilt in similar way. few vets. that came back to pick some money before end of carer, few decent players at best who are not good to pick contract in some stronger clubs and don't wannt to play in slovakia, belgium etc, cheep foreginers and young prospects......when some of that link is not good...clubs are in troble...and to make things worse even prospects this days are leaving our clubs......mirotic, bogdanovic b., bogdanovic d. todorovic, gacic, peno, kuzmic, djedovic nedim and nihad, brzoja and so on left our clubs before they started shaveing...and then best coaches, average coaches, junior coaches evryone is leaving our clubs and working all over world......and same situation is in lithuania i belive

when you look all this things it's good that basketball still exists here

Do you mean players leaving their home countries/clubs @extra young age pretty much stops their development into stars caliber players ?

Could be the case.
